JFC just pick a different conservative white male. This dude isn't THAT special. His reputation is ruined and we will likely never know the truth either way because only 2 or 3 people can possibly know what actually happened.

"what actually happened" is only part of the equation.

the grander question is, character and fitness for the most prestigious job in his field.

instead of displaying even-keeled pragmatism and objective temperament, he's presented himself as a dubious partisan hot head that we should prob avoid having on the scotus.

I mean, heck, how about the "would you wanna have a beer with him" test? Would anybody actually wanna go out and party with ol' frat boy justice?

Agreed. The incident with Ford has not been proven to have happened at this point so it is not a disqualifier for me at this point.

His lies under oath and his irrational, partisan lunacy are disqualifiers for sure.

Has there ever been a nominee for which over 500 law professors release a statement saying they think he lacks judicial temperament?

It’s crazy how much Kav seems to mirror Trump: white male, privileged upbringing, boorish, argumentative, temperamental, partisan, manipulative of truth, accusations of sexual assault.

He’s pretty much Trump, but also a judge. And also drunk.

I think it has much more to do with the level of hysteria that has been wrongly generated over his nomination. I would also bet that they could easily come up with 500 professors in support of Kavanaugh. I have a law professor whose office is next to mine who thinks Kavanaugh is the best nominee in his lifetime and I have multiple attorney friends who like and support Kavanaugh as well. You're using a carefully-cultivated, and I would assume, skewed, sample to make a very broad generalization.

sooo over 500 professors who publish their names nationally, vs. the guy with an office next to psych and some of his friends.

you sure you aren’t the one who’s skewing this?

I'm saying that, if I personally know fifteen who think Kavanaugh is great, how does that extrapolate across the nation? I'd also be interested to know how many of those 500 are hard core leftists. My guess is 100%. Conclusion - they would hate any Trump nominee.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is all Kabuki theater that will accomplish nothing in the end.

I felt no ill will for Gorsuch. How does this line up with your data?

The fact that Gorsuch didn't represent the 5-4 swing vote?

I dunno either. It is increasingly difficult to differentiate reality from the left's narrative these days.

Try to not think of things as so left and right.

Most people are some shade of moderate. No need to so quickly paint it as us vs. them.

I get that. Personally, I don't trust moderates any more than far leftists. This is my opinion, but the only solution to what ails this country is found in conservative principles.

so you’re saying you only trust righties?

And I respectfully disagree that the “only” ailment is found in conservative principles.

How about the heat ailment is healthy compromises achieved through a effective democratic process?
