0-4?
really?
Our U23 team is only decent much like the regular USMNT squad.
Morocco actually beat the U23 favorite Argentina in the opening rounds.
Certainly shouldn't loose 4-0 though...but a loss was expected ( Morocco were significant favorites by the books ).

One thing to note is we didn't bring our 'A' squad of dudes who are U23.

No Lund, no Scally, no Musah, no Pepi, no Aaronson, no Balogun, and no Gio Reyna.
Those seven guys absolutely would have started for the Olympics.

Those were dudes who were on our Copa squad - and yes we totally flamed out of the Copa ( thanks Tim Weah ) - but those clubs weren't letting their players do double duty and Copa was more important to us.

Tim Weah changed the directory of US soccer for the next few years honestly - we will see if it's for better or for worse.

I didn't realize that. Wondered why they weren't playing.

trump, megan kelly, bobo, and many others should be ashamed (but they won’t be…they’ll just move on to the next manufactured outrage)

I read that as "the pot head smoking is the competition so far"....and with all the random things like break dancing, it didn't seem that far fetched that there may be a pot smoking competition.

Wondered if maybe that's why Snoop is there.

Sha'Carri Richardson. I watched a replay. I don't know what if any excuse she had. Wet track was a legit factor.
She had a terrible start. Second sucks.

^^^

What a morning. Having the games on Peacock while not perfect, has its benefits. I've watched the Men''s Gold medal match in tennis while watching the last round of the Golf, while also watching the Women's Road Race, and now the USA women are playing Germany in a close game in basketball. And starting at 12:30, there's a whole 'nother round of contests.

If you like the Olympics, and I do, life is good.

it was almost identical their semifinal heat

she either doesn’t have a better start, or failed to make adjustments

second indeed sucks, but that was a stacked field

The slow motion close ups of women going over the bar, or not, in the high jump, are something to see!

Perchance?

The 15 Russian ‘neutrals’ at the Paris Olympics are politically isolated and rarely in the spotlight

Rarely on the podium and barred from the opening ceremony, the 15 Russians competing at the Paris Olympics have an uneasy status as “Individual Neutral Athletes” following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Some in the Olympic Village opposed them taking part in the Summer Games, and Russian opinion is divided.

In Russia, the Olympics aren’t being shown on TV and some politicians and media figures have even described those willing to compete in Paris as traitors.

It’s a complex environment for the athletes, some of them teenagers, to navigate and they’re wary of talking about politics or the war.

...That’s compared to more than 300 Russians at the last Summer Games in Tokyo.

International Olympic Committee restrictions barred Russian athletes who are in the military or publicly supported the invasion of Ukraine. The IOC also blocked Russians from team sports. Track and field enforced its own blanket ban.
