WWYD?

Post by RainbowsandUnicorns »

Looks like one of the better weekends of the year in the Chicagoland area in regards to events taking place.

The weather is supposed to be "Sunshine and some clouds. High 77F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph, with 50% humidity".

You have to choose TWO TWO TWO TWO TWO (I said TWO 5 times because a lot of you only respond with ONE when I ask for TWO in my 5 questions threads) of the following events to attend for at least 2 hours tomorrow. Which do you choose?

a. Chicago Air & Water Show ("The air show is a free event showcasing daredevil pilots, parachute teams, and formation jet flyers, as well as water-skiing and boat-jumping demonstrations. With its proximity to city beaches and skyline, the show is visible from almost anywhere along the Chicago lakefront.")

b. Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox (game start is 6:15pm at Guaranteed Rate Field - NOT Wrigley)

c. The Great American Lobster Fest (at Navy Pier - "Enjoy live lobster flown in fresh from the cold waters off the East Coast, live music performances, unique craft shopping, and cold beverages. We’ll also have plenty of non-seafood and dessert items to please the whole family! All while overlooking gorgeous Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline on the Midwest’s largest attraction!")

d. Bud Billiken Parade ("The Bud Billiken® Parade is more than a procession of bands and floats marching down King Drive, it’s a commemoration of our past and a celebration of our future. Every summer since 1929, “The Bud” has united African-Americans throughout the city of Chicago in music, dance, food, and laughter. It’s one of the only spaces where we can openly and emphatically praise the historic roots that plant us into the South Side of Chicago.")

e. Northalsted Market Days ("one of the largest street festivals in the Midwest, welcoming 100,000 people to the streets of Northalsted for a summer celebration of music, food and dance. You can expect a long list of performers across five stages").

f. Printer's Row Art Fest ("This community art fest sets up in Printer's Row, with nearly 100 artists showing off jewelry, paintings, upcycled artworks and more interesting items. When you're done shopping, take a break with a drink or snack and some live music.")

f. Taylor Street Little Italy Festa ("an evening of delicious Italian food and entertainment. Guests will be able to sample dishes from local restaurants, shop a selection of Italian goods, and enjoy acts performing on one of five stages throughout the event".)

g. Retro on Roscoe ("Antique vendors and classic cars fill six blocks of Roscoe Village at this throwback street market, where everything old is new again. The music lineup is usually equally nostalgic, featuring tribute acts that perform hits from the ‘80s and ‘90s.")

h. Metallica (Performing at Soldier Field)

j. Lincoln Park Zoo (It's free to attend)

BONUS You can attend the Navy Pier Fireworks at 10:00pm. Do you attend?

Lobster. Baseball.

Lobster not bc I particularly like lobster but it sounds like it’s the best location for an outdoor event like the others.

Lobster and zoo.

But neither, because Fox News tells me Chicago is scary and I'd be shot almost instantly.

Choosing right now - None sound great only because of big crowds and a bitch of a commute/transportation issue/s.
Easiest to get to is Air and Water and Lobster Fest. A&W is basically outside my front and back doors and Lobster Fest is a very short walk.
I will go with Air and Water / Printer's Row Art Fest.

Car accident early this morning near Lincoln Park (you know - good neighborhood).
Dudes get out of a car and start shooting at the other car. Hit an innocent woman who happened to be walking by on the sidewalk.
That's Chicago for you.

That's awful.

I miss Chicago. We used to come 1 or 2 times a year. Haven't been in probably a decade. Maybe longer.

Taylor Steet Little Italy Festival and the zoo.

I really hate big crowds, all sound great but I'm not sure I could enjoy myself at most of these.

Rooftop hotel with pool adjacent to Lincoln park for air show.

The Italian food thing sounds fun.

When I read that A&W and Lobster seemed a no brainer for you, Gutter, unless you wanted to get out and about.

As you alluded to, I’d want there to be a machine that can teleport me to any of the choices from another.

Metallica would be cool as long as you aren’t paying for it.

I know you asked us to choose TWO TWO TWO TWO TWO, so ten total, but sorry bro you’re on your own for the other 9

Bud Billiken Parade sounds fun.
Printer's Row Art Fest sounds fun.
Taylor Street Little Italy Festa sounds fun.
Retro on Roscoe sounds fun.
Lincoln Park Zoo sounds fun.

I'd do whichever ones of those were the easiest to get to and from.

Printer's Row Art Fest. Chicago has a great art scene. I was in Chicago last summer during the air show. You can see it from anywhere in the loop. The most interesting views were when we were in between buildings and you would get these sudden screeching views of jets flying overhead from the canyon between two buildings. Printer's Row is a twofer.

Northalstead. I Was in Chicago years ago during pride fest. It was a raucous joyous scene. Northalstead seems like a continuation of that.

End the day at Miller's Pub on Wabash for prime rib and a beer. I kinda like eating at the bar.

All of the options sound equal to or better than The Illinois State Fair, which we are taking the kids to this afternoon.

Minnesota state fair is in a couple of weeks. We're going to try and make it. Again, I'm not looking forward to the large crowds and getting there is a pain despite the fact that it's relatively close. But it is supposed to be pretty incredible. I think only the Texas state fair is bigger.

Plus, butter sculptures.

I have a feeling the lab techs make butter sculptures out of my blood samples when they are done.

Here is a butter sculpture of me (with butter hair) eating a stick of butter......
