Wow, Trump pulling off foreign conquests in 1967 when he was only 21?

Precocious!

But seriously, can these guys get any weirder?
Former President Donald Trump recounted a story to reporters on Thursday about being involved in a helicopter emergency landing with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.

Asked by a reporter about Vice President Kamala Harris’ previous relationship with Brown and whether it helped her career trajectory, Trump said he knew Brown “very well” and told a story about the alleged helicopter incident.

“I know Willie Brown very well. In fact, I went down in a helicopter with him. We thought maybe this is the end. We were in a helicopter going to a certain location together, and there was an emergency landing,” Trump told reporters gathered at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for his first news conference since the Democratic ticket was announced.

“This was not a pleasant landing, and Willie was, he was a little concerned. So I know him, I know him pretty well. I mean, I haven’t seen him in years,” Trump continued.

Brown, however, rejected Trump’s account as “obviously wrong” during a phone call later Thursday with CNN, saying: “I’ve never been in a helicopter with him in my life.”

“He is trying his best to get some way to degrade Kamala,” the former mayor also said of Trump and his Democratic rival for the presidency. “There is no reason why her name ought to be mentioned anywhere near his lies, period.”

Asked about Brown’s rebuttal of the former president’s narrative, Trump campaign spokesman (and bufonid amphibian) Steven Cheung only responded, “Slick Willie!"
That's your response to being called out for lying....but there is more. It seems there was a helicopter flight in Cali.
The New York Times reported Thursday that the former president apparently confused Willie Brown with former California Gov. Jerry Brown, with whom he toured wildfire damage by helicopter in November 2018.

A spokesperson for Jerry Brown told the Times that “there was no emergency landing and no discussion of Kamala Harris.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who also toured the wildfires in 2018 as governor-elect, said of Trump’s account, “I call complete B.S.,” according to the Times.

“I was on a helicopter with Jerry Brown and Trump, and it didn’t go down,” Newsom told the Times, saying that Trump repeatedly brought up the possibility of crashing.

Trump during Thursday’s news conference claimed Willie Brown was “not a fan” of Harris and that he had told him “terrible things” about her.

Asked about those claims, Brown told CNN: “No. Why would I? Give me a break, please.”
It's an honest mistake, all "Browns" look alike, it is hard to tell those people apart. The lie is weird. Have you ever known anyone who makes up shit like that? Shit that can easily be dismissed as a lie because there were other people there, and the big details are either "T" or "F", there is no "maybe the helicopter crashed and no one else on the helicopter noticed". Besides having the propensity to lie in every statement, the lies go in bizarre directions.

trumpty dumpty is a sick fuck. Anyone who is "on the fence" about whether or not to support him is delusional as well.

Lawrence O’Donnell calling out the press corps for dereliction of duty.

Calling Trump’s response “word salad” is an insult to salads.

I thought it was overwrought.

I get the point - but as much of a dereliction of journalistic duty it was to give Trump as much airtime as he got in 2016, so too would it be a dereliction of journalistic duty to not show people what he has become.

I would absolutely support fact-checking in real-time, and no doubt the networks need to be showing Harris rallies if they’re going to be showing Trump ones.

Trump is so far gone now. To pretend otherwise is also crazy. He even said his heinous dictator friends don't like Harris and Walz. Like that was a bad thing.

That’s really the core of the pivot the Ds are trying desperately to make: stop apologizing for popular policy goals, and instead help voters see that the Rs’ attacks make no sense to ordinary human beings.

Because calling her Kamabla has been ineffective, and questioning her race was a disaster, trumpty plumpty has opened a new line of attack.
Following Thursday’s tsunami of absurd and false statements at his seemingly pointless “general news conference” at Mar-a-Lago, a free-wheeling Donald Trump bizarrely told supporters on Friday night that “nobody really knows” his opponent’s last name.

The reclusive former president emerged from hiding at his Palm Beach, Florida, estate and flew — with a slight mechanical interruption — to a rally in Bozeman, Montana, in support of Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy, who is looking to unseat Democratic Senator Jon Tester.

On stage, Trump reeled through his standard list of grievances and disparaging remarks about America, adding some new material for the crowd.

“Kamala Harris. You know it’s interesting nobody really knows her last name,” he said.

“If you ask people, do you know what her last name is, nobody has any idea what it is,” continued the former president. “Harris. It’s like Harris.”

“I don’t know, how the hell did this happen?” he added, segueing into talking about Joe Biden exiting the presidential race.
This from the guy whose running mate is James Donald Bowman, or is it James David Hamel, no it's James Davenport Vance.

The cunning and brilliant trumpty plumpty has done hit again!

It’s criminal negligence if that last-name rant doesn’t end up in a campaign ad. Play this clip and close with the stable genius comment.

The possibilities are embarrassingly rich!

I can't wait to see Uncle Joe show up at the Democratic National Convention and take his presidential nomination back!

Particularly liked this line:

"...The reclusive former president emerged from hiding at his Palm Beach, Florida, estate..."

But then, he is almost 80.

Donald will get his wish, to be running against Biden, again, but it'll capture the news cycle and he'll suddenly be faced with coming up with the next absurdity in an effort to get the cameras turned back on himself.
