I heard Trump was a few steps away from boarding Apollo 1, when he heard the screams of an elderly woman trapped in a burning building….putting his astronaut career on hold to rush to her rescue.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Kamala Harris Isn’t Giving Interviews. Any Questions?
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/08/busi ... views.htmlThe press has questions for Vice President Kamala Harris. She isn’t giving a whole lot of answers.
In the nearly three weeks since President Biden withdrew his candidacy, catapulting Ms. Harris to the top of the Democratic ticket, the vice president has shown little eagerness to meet journalists in unscripted settings. She has not granted an interview or held a news conference. On Thursday, after a rally in Michigan, she held her first “gaggle” — an impromptu Q.-and-A. session — with reporters covering her campaign.
It lasted 70 seconds.
Ms. Harris replaced a Democratic nominee who has hosted fewer White House news conferences than any president since Ronald Reagan. Now she is taking a similarly cautious approach, relying on televised rallies and prepared statements amid a tightly controlled rollout of her candidacy.
…
Aides to Ms. Harris argue that in a fractured media landscape, where trust in traditional news outlets has fallen, their most effective voter outreach comes from alternative venues like TikTok and their own social media platforms.

Re: Kamala! Fuck Yeah!
If Biden would have followed that strategy he'd still be in the race.
In my opinion, she doesn't need to do anything at this point. She can only hurt herself by doing a bunch of interviews or debates.
Trump is self imploding. Don't give him any actual ammo. And if she does a bunch of talking, the chances of saying something stupid increase.
She just needs to hold on and she'll win.
Then, hopefully in 2028, we have some better options. Real choices. Real debates.

Until Trump passes away, he will continue to be the Rs nominee. I think that's the thing most people aren't grasping. If he loses in November, it won't be because he, you know, actually lost. It will be because 'it was stolen'. So we'll have another 4 years of the same BS we've just gone through, only with the potential for more violence/bloodshed.
MAGAitis has taken root in the republican party, and it's not going to get cured any time soon. And it's up and down the ballot, at all levels and across all states.

With no question.
That's why, even tho the SCOTUS has done everything they can to insulate him, I can't wait to see what becomes of the 3 federal and Georgia state cases that are pending against Trump, not that I think he'll ever do any time.

Oh, you think? Is there any chance The Times could be referring to the > ¾ billion dollar$ Fox was fined for lying? Repeatedly, in support of their favorite candidate? Is that the "trust, that's "fallen"? Of course, they won't come out and say that because they're too intent on being "fair".ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 6:24 pm Kamala Harris Isn’t Giving Interviews. Any Questions?

How's this for "fair"? Harris is holding the cards. Trump wants and needs the debates more than she does. If I were her I'd tell Trump she's not willing to debate on Fox due to their obvious bad faith, and she'll see him on ABC & NBC if he cares to show up. Make Fox actually pay a price for their habitual lying, and take the opportunity to put their conviction in front of the electorate again, going into the election. Make them choose between integrity and relevance, or Trump. Why not?

If I were advising the Harris campaign I would advise her to do an interview with the first media outlet that either replays the Mar-a-Lago press conference with a giant “LIAR” buzzer for each lie or prints a first page with “LIAR” in 72-font and prints the transcript of said press conference.ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 6:24 pm Kamala Harris Isn’t Giving Interviews. Re: Kamala! Fuck Yeah!
a candidate for the president of the United States of America that refuses to take questions and give answers. that’s nice.
Re: Kamala! Fuck Yeah!
So, you're saying it would be better for her to hold a news conference and tell whatever lies come into her head like Trump does, rather than wait and do it after the DNC and the debate?

There is a limited amount of time remaining for her to campaign so she is focusing on that. It's called being efficient and effective.
The people whining about it would never watch it so that just proves my point that she is taking the right path to communicate with the people she is trying to communicate with.

The media cannot help themselves from horseracing us to death, holding the candidates to entirely different standards.
There is no better evidence of this than the identity of the candidates themselves - the media chased Biden from the race for a public performance not any less concerning than the ones Trump gets a pass for as a matter of routine.
Re: Kamala! Fuck Yeah!
Of course she does no such thing - she does press gaggles all the time. But you take your perspective from those who would call last night’s mutual hand jobs an “interview,” so I suppose it is what it is.
Re: Kamala! Fuck Yeah!
Focusing on what is important is a win. If the people who don't want you to succeed are complaining about how you are doing things then that's a win, too. We're finally at the point where all the complaints are just whining about nonsense. "Kamala hasn't had a formal press conference" is about as relevant as "Kamala is going to ban Christmas".jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 8:03 amExactly, it’s a no-win.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 6:56 am There is a limited amount of time remaining for her to campaign so she is focusing on that. (I also expect that Harris/Walz will in fact do numerous traditional press events. I think there is some strategy in letting the Rs get out over their skis on this particular line of attack.)twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 8:24 amFocusing on what is important is a win. Philly to Wisconsin to Michigan to Arizona to Nevada. It would have included Goergia and North Carolina but those stops were cancelled due to the storm.
This is what a high energy politician does.
Meanwhile, low-energy old man Trump sat on his fat ass all week and whined.
