My guess is not too many people care but for those who might/do, I will give some insight in to the going ons in regard/s to the convention - and the inevitable challenges in regard/s to the city of Chicago hosting the event.

Confirmed last week that I will be working the DNC to varying degrees.
Got my first assignment this morning. Coordination of swag receiving and distribution.
I'm on team Democrat for the next 8 days.

Police Superintendent claiming - "We will not allow people to come here and destroy this city" but of course then says, "We're not going to allow you to riot. Protesting and rioting are two different things," "The moment that (rioting) starts, we are going to intervene. I am not going to wait until out of control and then try to bring it back in."
My 2 cents - Biggest problem the Chicago police face is that they have to be reactionary. They can't/won't do anything until AFTER something happens.

People concerned with public transportation. Some plans in place but not as clear as people want it to be. I have a strong feeling most people who can work from home will do as such next week.
Will be interesting to see what if any public places "downtown" are affected. i.e. Museums, parks, restaurants, hotels, stores, etc.
Most of the events are not "downtown" but "McCormack Square" and "Near West Side".

Will be happy to do as such if possible, but not sure if they will allow me to use my phone in there.
Also, I am "working" the event. Decent chance I am doing behind the scenes stuff (probably helping deal with getting people around - inside the UC) and won't even be able to watch it.
Party wise, my guess is I am nothing more than a guest. All I know right now is where it is at, what time/s, and who is performing.

Would like to go to the Delegate party at Navy Pier tonight (being that I can walk there and it starts early) but I have not received an invite nor have I been asked/requested to "work" it.

Idiot me is tempted to go check out some "protests" today. Only concern is getting stuck if I do as such.
