Just like cyclists.

inconsiderate and entitled, more often than not
At least up here, there are more motorcyclists with loud bikes than quiet.
A motorcycle does not need to be loud - it's not inherent in it's design.
Imagine if every single car was as loud as your loudest motorcycles - it would be madness.

Re: Totally random thread
No joke intended there tdub. I don’t really like the motorcycles and cyclists that do wtf they want, but that number isn’t the majority, I don’t think.
Re: Totally random thread
If we're even just basing it on wearing a helmet ( without even mentioning other traffic formalities/rules ) that's not the case up here. I see more than 50% of motorcyclists doing their thing without a helmet.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 9:25 am No joke intended there tdub. There is so very little crime up here -- but the bike gangs are involved in a good deal of it.
A rival biker gang shooting just happened in Portland 2 weeks ago.

Oh, I thought we were basing it on the actual law, not our perceptions of what people should do.
No helmet law for ‘adults’ in Maine, at least according to a simple google search.

I guess you gotta be in Brunswick when the Hells Angels crew decides to take the entire town over every other nice weekend to get it.

Re: Totally random thread
I’m sure that’s obnoxious. As is a group of cyclists taking up a road 3 wide riding through the city.
Re: Totally random thread
For me, it's extra shitty up here, because if you're rep'ing Hells Angels/Outlaws/Iron Horsemen then you can do whatever the fuck you want because the police force isn't powerful ( or bold ) enough to stop you.
Re: Totally random thread
Helmet laws are...oh nevermind, take it to the Pols bored. Suffice it to say that "I'm only putting myself at risk" is not accurate.
Re: Totally random thread
cyclist are the worst. If you want the respect of a car....follow the rules of a car. Don't ride on sidewalks when it suits you, don't run lights when it suits you, don't squeeze between lanes of traffic and then get mad when people don't see you, don't cut across traffic and go the wrong way on a one way...etc etc.
Most of them are jerks on the roads.
sorry Shirley....I'm sure you're not the problem.

The very first week I started my first job in NYC ( around Macys on 34th ) I saw a cyclist slam straight into a car and flip into the air. He got up covered in blood.
Welcome to the Jungle!
( I think at the time I thought, oh man what an asshole that person driving the car was, not seeing whose fault it was...but then, maybe within the year, I thought back and said, yea, 99% chance that was the cyclists fault )

My first business trip to Manhattan. I was staying at HoJo's in Midtown. 8th Ave? I dunno.
I get to my room, put the bags down and look out the window. I see a cabbie open his door right in the path of a cyclist and it wipes the dude out. Messed up his bike too. Cabbie jumps back in his cab and closes the door. Cyclist punches the driver's side window out, picks up his bike and walks down the street.
Cop watches all of it and drives off.

Re: Totally random thread
Fun story. I was riding my bike to a medical facility to do some sports therapy and came cruising around the corner full speed into an entrance with a pretty blind entry. I hit a car directly in the front bumper, flew over my handlebars and ended up on the hood of the car with my face up against the windshield. Some nice old lady is driving. She taps on the windshield from inside:pdub wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 11:29 am The very first week I started my first job in NYC ( around Macys on 34th ) I saw a cyclist slam straight into a car and flip into the air. Old Lady: "Are you OK?"
Me: "Yeah, I think so."
Old Lady: "Well then can you get off my car, I am in a bit of a hurry."
So I scraped myself off her windshield, scooped up my bike (and it's thoroughly destroyed front tire) and limped off to my appointment.

I'm thinking about using a password manager. Anyone here use one, and recommend it?

Re: Totally random thread
I'll let others chime in but I have been very hesitant.
My concerns...
Password manager breaks/goes down. Then what?
Password manager gets hacked. Then what?
Password manager doesn't recognize your password for the password manager. Then what?
Password manager doesn't work for all websites. Then what?
