well oh geez, come on man...it's pretty long! Can you condense that into 30 seconds or less, with a minimum of 4 really cool sounding buzz words so I can sound really smart at the bar tonight when I use them incorrectly with my imaginary bumble babe?

bonus points if you can somehow stuff condescending into the discourse.
I just dunno what good it does for twocoach to post some “read this link!” to a big long transcript but not offering anything specific about it, no commentary of his own, yet expecting me to read it.

3 years out of 20 years is 15%. That's not a great ratio.

I don't get it. Reading back through today now that I am done golfing. What purpose did any of this serve today? For anyone. Did you accomplish "providing some perspective"? Me thinks no.

I mean that genuinely. Not in a dickhead kind of way.

And you can't seem to stop yourself. And you're still going.

I think it’s time to update it

With this:

Yet another smart ass comment instead of taking the time to read the information and comment on it. Shocking.
Forgive the smartassery. It’s something I’ve always been, and for years other posters seemed to see the fun in it, until the relatively recent political disagreements.

Let’s also not let the smartassery be an excuse to avoid the points I’m making: that it wasn’t really long ago when more voters, particularly liberal-leaning voters, had more concern for things like human rights.

I’m afraid this battle for which party can be tougher at the border is evidence of the maga cult’s toxic influence reaching further than just among Trump voters.

Per your request, I read trad’s link. It’s news to me that much of the decline in U.S. border crossings is due to Mexico bussing migrants back south. I’d be curious to learn how much role Biden played in that. I’m also curious whether any root causes were ever determined. And I’m curious about the parole programs, and how all this might affect the progressive vote - or whether the progressive vote might affect the election (does ANYONE give a fuck about human rights any more?)

I’ll admit, I didn’t read the transcript you linked. Not the entire thing, at least. It’s pretty long. Did you read it? What’s it get at?

Does it elaborate on Biden’s role in the Mexican initiatives to bus migrants south? What happens to the migrants once they get bussed down there? And does it compare and contrast with U.S. mayor’s initiatives to bus/fly migrants to other sanctuary cities and such?
"when more voters, particularly liberal-leaning voters, had more concern for things like human rights."

These people's human rights aren't being violated. We as a nation aren't required to stand there with the door open for every person on the planet because of their "human rights".

Yes, of course I would like everyone who has a legitimate asylum claim due to fears for their safety to have an opportunity to have their asylum case heard but we cannot simply blindly let everyone come here. We as a nation have to have some policies in place to sift through them.

"I’d be curious to learn how much role Biden played in that."

Do you think that Mexico just started this program and the costs associated with it because they wanted to do it? Of course this is happening because of an agreement with the Biden administration. Why the fuck else would they do it, because they love to spend money on things that don't benefit them?!?

"I’m afraid this battle for which party can be tougher at the border is evidence of the maga cult’s toxic influence reaching further than just among Trump voters. "

You're making the same mistake again. Wanting to have some rules surrounding our border that are more restrictive than "give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses" is not "MAGA cult's toxic influence". If you think that the border issue is as simple as "the GOP wants to let no one in and the Dems want to let everyone in" then the MAGA cult's toxic influence has infected your brain, not mine.

"Does it elaborate on Biden’s role in the Mexican initiatives to bus migrants south? What happens to the migrants once they get bussed down there?"

A 5 second google search brought me this:

https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/27/politics ... index.html

"Homeland Security officials have in recent months discussed a range of ways Mexico can help drive down numbers at the US border, including moving migrants south, controlling the railways used by migrants to move north, and providing incentives to not journey to the border, like visas, to remain in the country and avoid migrating irregularly."

"And does it compare and contrast with U.S. mayor’s initiatives to bus/fly migrants to other sanctuary cities and such?"

A five second google search brought me this:

"The real migrant bus king of North America isn't the Texas governor. It's Mexico's president."

I think he's plenty curious.

The problem is, he only asks questions about things he's already developed his opinion on (often with limited/lazy research).

Then when 1 of the patient/intelligent posters (not me) provides information, he pivots, leaves, or explains how we're all brainwashed by propaganda.

Rinse. Repeat.

USA Today:

Along the U.S.-Mexico border, migrant apprehensions plunged by more than two-thirds in July from a year ago, to the lowest level of the Biden era, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection statistics provided to USA TODAY.

Migrant crossings have declined every month for the past five months. The results mark a rare victory on one of the Biden administration's toughest political battlefronts, as Vice President Kamala Harris prepares for next week’s Democratic National Convention. CBP is expected to publicly release the new border data Friday.

"The numbers have indeed decreased and have decreased significantly," Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas told USA TODAY. "The reason for it is not singular. It is a number of different measures that we and others have taken."

Those measures include the creation of new, lawful pathways for migrants to enter the United States in an orderly way, Mayorkas said; consequences for crossing illegally; tougher restrictions on asylum; and hard-won diplomacy with Mexico, Guatemala, Panama and Colombia as those countries boost their own border enforcement and humanitarian relief programs...

i love coming to the Black Hills…Custer had all these little tourist shops, largely catering to right-wing maga and biker types

the best, though, is that many of these shops are staffed by immigrants. the irony of immigrants hawking shitty trump t-shirts and memorabilia to seemingly clueless trumpaloes is awesome

(edit to fix my grammar…what i get for posting while in such a t-shirt shop)

The fact of people claiming to have seen Bigfoot does not make Bigfoot any more real.

But, as someone interested in Vance losing by ten points, I do like that he’s gone ahead and made additional statements that are disgusting and evil in their own right, even if it turns out to be true that a Haitian immigrant has in fact cooked and eaten someone’s pet.

Some people say there are caravans leaving Haiti full of pet-eating Haitians scheduled to make landfall here ~ a week before the election in November.

I wish I was joking, but I am not: I will not be one little bit surprised if the next play is to “reveal” that the cats-and-dogs thing was a hoax, planted by Putin (who, as we all know, favors Harris) in order to make Trump and Vance look bad.

People say that Hannibal Lecter is a common Haitian immigrant name.
I saw the worst minds of my generation empowered by madness, bloated farcical naked,
dragging themselves through the whitewashed streets at dawn looking for a grievance fix.

Yes, let's invest billions more to build a wall that does nothing but fatten the pockets of a developer and fuck up wildlife migration.
