I also recall from my biology classes that "menstruating students" are those with a uterus and vagina, not students with penises, who would be expected to inhabit the Men's bathroom. There’s a good argument to be made that the bigger issue is that all of our votes do NOT count the same.

Instinctively, I struggle with the idea of a national popular vote. I do think there is something not just undesirable, but dangerous, about effectively consolidating electoral power in cities. But of course I also know that that’s where the voters are.

I wonder what we’d do if we started over now, knowing what our country would look like.

Maybe there would be a path toward a hybrid system, where the electoral college decides then election unless a candidate gets [__%] of the popular vote.

Or better yet, along with ranked-choice voting, if any particular candidate finishes in first place in the popular vote by at least [__%].
