Shaduer Sanders is awesome.

Yeah, but Sanders (Slim Shady), Horn, and Hunter, MAY be a top 5 (if not the top) trio in college football and just enough to compensate for it.
I think if those guys stay healthy CU has a decent chance to be a 6 or 7 win team.
I haven't bothered to do enough research to see what players that have returning at what positions but I did enough research to realize 6 of their 8 loses last season could (should?) have been wins.
Granted, 3 of their 4 wins could (should?) have been losses.

The sad thing is I went from being a big Deion fan - to not liking him as a coach.

Not sure how many returnees they have, but they lead the FBS with the most transfers in. So I am guessing they had lots transfer out.

Travis Hunter is unreal. Of course he was the #1 recruit in 2022 but man.

I hope 11/23 comes around and Colorado is sitting on four wins and they have to beat us to be bowl eligible and we obliterate them.

When I was in Colorado, And CU Was in the big 12, the every other year game at Folsom was highly looked forward to. Great representation by Hawks fans And the weather was almost always perfect.

I really enjoyed the game at children’s Mercy last night, but FFS the weather here sucks.

Gutter's 5 NCAA Football thoughts of the day - 8/31/24

1. Speaking of capacity. Today is one of the "perfect weather" late summer days in Chicagoland.
About 80 degrees along the lake, sunny, comfortable humidity, slight breeze.
Northwestern is mirroring KU (or is KU mirroring Northwestern?) in that they are tearing down and rebuilding a stadium. Unlike KU, Northwestern decided to use a field on campus and convert it to a football stadium. 15,000 seats. Supposedly. Awesome conversion in that the stadium is literally along the lakefront and on campus.
Today's game - sold out.
I have a dinner commitment tonight, otherwise, I would have attended the game today.

2. I watched part of the Michigan State / Florida Atlantic game last night. Fuck Sparty! I have no problem with teams that have defensive players who hit hard. I have a big problem with defensive players who hit hard above the shoulders, who hit hard after a play is dead, who hit hard out of bounds.
I was rooting for them to lose.

3. I get that teams have to play out of conference schedules and I get that shitty teams get a "pay day" for playing the big boys but come on.
Missouri won 51-0
Utah won 49-0
Illinois won 45-0
Tulane won 52-0
Arkansas won 70-0
UAB won 41-3
KU won 48-3
Oklahoma won 51-3

4. Clemson is ranked 14. They play #1 Georgia today. I believe a loss doesn't eliminate Clemson from CFP contention. My questions are....
Assuming all the other top 10 teams who are playing this week win - how far does Georgia drop in the rankings? I'm guessing they don't fall more than 4 spots.
If Clemson wins, how far do they move up? I'm guessing they are top 8.

5. Too nice of a day for me to stay in and watch the Clemson/Georgia game. The only other game today that really interests me is the Notre Dame / Texas A&M game. My hope is to watch the 2nd half.
A&M is currently a 3 point favorite. They opened at -1.5. What made the line move to 3?
Other than people love to bet on or against ND.

Bonus - Speaking of betting. Northwestern is a 3.5 point favorite against Miami of Ohio. I have no idea about MoO but I do know they return their QB who is decent. I have somewhat of an idea about NU. I know NU is starting a new QB but they still have their best RB from last season.
I'm predicting one of the following final scores.
MO 17 NU 20
MO 23 NU 20
MO 24 NU 17
MO 13 NU 24
MO 21 NU 23

I think it is smart to play a patsy first game and then go from there.

That Clemson/Georgia game I am for sure going to watch. There are a lot of good games.

The Notre Dame / Texas A&M game has so many aspects to it. Texas A&M just fired their coach and paid him a ton of money to go away. The new coach came from Duke who had a good QB who transfered to Notre Dame. LOL

Then there is Florida/Miami. Both schools fans think they playing for the Ship every year but they have not been good. The loser of this game the fans going to want a new coach.

The easier early game(s) are what got KSU back on track after years of terrible play. They allow a tune up. The injuries are less. You play a Clemson first and they take out some part of your lineup.

Man, Penn State’s offense looks very fluid compared to last year. I know it’s only been a half, but as someone who watches quite a bit of PSU, sure looks early like Coach AK making a difference. 🪦

Ashton Jeanty 249 yards rushing and 6 TD today. Could/should have 300+ and 7 TD but Boise decided to let Sire Gaines dominate too.
