Gutter's 5 questions for national bowling league day 9/3/24

Post by RainbowsandUnicorns »

1. Two parter.
a. Have you ever been in a bowling league?
b. When was the last time you went bowling?

2. You have to drink a 12 ounce glass of ice water with a little bit of one of the following natural fruit juices added to the glass of water. Which do you choose?
a. watermelon
b. lime
c. apple
d. orange
e. grapefruit
f. pineapple
g. raspberry
h. lemon

3. Which came first - pickles or plums or peppers?

4. I used to collect guitar picks (plectrums) from "famous" guitarists. Some I obtained directly from the guitarists, some I was given by people who are in the music industry, some I bought from highly reliable people, and some I bought from people I don't know and I am highly skeptical if they are legit.
Regardless, if you could choose THREE guitarists (living or dead) to have their guitar picks, who would you choose?

5. You are going on vacation this winter by yourself to the Miami area and you have to rent a car for a week and pay for it.
These are your choices. Which do you choose?
a. 2025 Mercedes E 350 Sedan for $1,000.
b. 2025 Honda Accord Sedan EX CVT for $590
c. 2025 Corvette Stingray for $1250
d. 2025 Ford Mustang Convertible (not GT) for $850
e. 2025 Lamborghini Temerario for $3750
f. 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee for $695
g. 2024 Tesla Cybertruck for $2250

1. I was a sub in one. Not since COVID so probably 5 years ago.
2. Lemon.
3. Hm. Peppers?
4. Doesn't really matter so I'll try Elvis, Chuck Barry and Jimi Hendrix bc maybe I could get some money selling those.
5. b - I don't care what I drive - let me save that money and spend it on things that matter.

1. a. When I was in grad school, some 35 years ago. b. About a little over a year ago, for a department “team building” event. Hadn’t bowled in over a decade before that. Still had the highest scores, around 140, but below my league average of around 165.
2. Lemon
3. Plums
4. Hendrix, Townshend and Knopfler (Bonus: Gilmour).
5. E350

2) Lime
3) Plums?
4) Jerry, Jorma (won't even try to spell his last name) and Robert Johnson

1.
a. Not that I remember
b. About 5 years ago.

2. Lime

3. WTF? I'm going with pickle - because I can.

4. I'll go with people I don't have. Hendrix, Jeff Beck, John Lennon

5. Depends on a lot of factors. One big one is that I don't own a car so driving a car is a luxury to/for me. Without giving it much thought and money being somewhat of a factor to/for me - I like convertibles so I would probably opt for the Mustang.

4. I have two different Townshend picks. One I think is probably NOT legit, the other one I got from someone who has a lot of legit picks so I like to think it is legit. I'll post a photo later today.

It would not be the pickle ( historical origins ) as people started cultivating peppers well before the pickling process was discovered. I don't know about the pepper vs the plum though -- I figure a pepper ( any pepper mind you ) would be more apt to grow naturally in more areas and earlier than a plum so that's why I guessed it.

same general thought process

plums (i assume) have a much more limited natural distribution, while peppers grow naturally in the Americas, Africa, and Asia (at least). that hints at a history dating back to super continents…hundreds of millions of years

Pretty sure peppers are native to the Americas. My friends in Peru claim they were first grown there.

1. a. Yes- if you count bowling class at the jaybowl. Was in class when the Oklahoma City Bombing happened. Not that day, but in general, we'd go to the Crossing before class, lubricate, then go bowl.
b. sometime before COVID. I still use the 3-5-7 spare system learned from aforementioned bowling class.

2. Watermelon, as long as it's peak ripeness.

3. Peppers come first alphabetically, unless we are including a pickle's pre pickle life as a cucumber, which would have Pickles come way sooner.

4. Hendrix, BB King, Taylor Swift (I could sell this one for the most, I bet...'Murica, phuck yeah!).

5. Accord if I can upgrade to the EX-L to have leather seats.

**also---thanks Psych for not copy and pasting anymore. I haven't posted since I asked that a few days ago...and now someone else is doing it sometimes, but you've stopped. Makes this thread much easier to read. Cheers.

I have replied to Gutter's question posts and then deleted the questions so I don't have to scroll. Not sure if that causes any problems
