Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I love that these chucklefucks' actual defense is, "I guess I never really thought about why I'd be getting $400k/month to do some videos that get 10,000 views."

Scary times when the police are coming to your door to make you answer for using your legal right to sign a petition for support of a ballot measure. I'd ask if they did this for any other type of ballot measure but I probably already know the answer to that question.Shirley wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 10:31 amThe Fascists aren't "coming", they're here.KUTradition wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 9:30 am “election police” in florida are apparently going door-to-door to “check” for fraud on the abortion measure signatures

Easy, easy; it's just a photo, she is not coming thru your computer screen at you.
You lazy rubes better start clapping or she is going to descending from on high and CHEW SOMEONE'S FACE OFF GOD DAMNIT!Kimberly Guilfoyle just had her Jeb Bush moment.
The waning conservative star lost her spark while speaking at a Republican fundraiser in Florida on Saturday, where even like-minded conservatives couldn’t find it in themselves to clap for the 2020 Trump campaign adviser.
“I’m here to tell you, don’t lose hope. On a personal note, I can tell you that I am as hopeful as ever,” Guilfoyle said at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. “Because Americans from all walks of life have had enough of the Democrats’ decline. And we are ready, we are willing, and we are able to spark a new era of American exceptionalism.”
But that tagline didn’t elicit any reaction from the muted crowd.
“You can clap for that,” Guilfoyle added, tossing her head to the side while glowering at the sparse crowd.
About 700 Republicans were in attendance, reported The Palm Beach Post.
Even direct attacks against Democratic leadership, including Vice President Kamala Harris, fell flat with the right-wing loyalists during Guilfoyle’s roughly 15-minute speech.
“I have known her for 25 years. And let me tell you something: Do whatever it takes to keep her out of the White House,” Guilfoyle screeched to relative silence.

The epitome of MAGAts is that they don't realize (or at least ignore) this is exactly what happened to Trump in 2020.

This could go in another thread, but it really gets to whatever fetid, wormy sludge is where Republicans’ souls, to say nothing of their reason, used to be.
A smart person acting this STUPID as cover for his and his side’s lust for “bloody” (in Trump’s words!) rounding up of people into concentration camps.
I did enjoy, as a project-y little Easter Egg, “It is in the interest of a criminal dictator to let his criminals out of [the country’s] jails.”
Yes, it is, Stephen.

https://x.com/josemdelpino/status/18339 ... q_-8Yt1KMAI asked Stephen Miller, one of Donald Trump's top advisors, what is the evidence for saying that Caracas and Venezuela are safer than the United States. He began by answering that it is the government's numbers. I asked him if he trusted Maduro's numbers. And this was his reaction.

Re: We Lost the Battle for the Republican Party’s Soul Long Ago
It's good to see that after 4 years on the sidelines little Stevie is still unhinged, angry, bitter. The numbers of dictators/authoritarian governments are always lies. It is just a known fact you can't trust numbers from some countries. But who cares if it helps your cause?I asked Stephen Miller, one of Donald Trump's top advisors, what is the evidence for saying that Caracas and Venezuela are safer than the United States. He began by answering that it is the government's numbers. I asked him if he trusted Maduro's numbers. And this was his reaction.
I am reminded of a project that died with Aubrey McClendon.
I don't think drawings were ever shown of it in public. We called it the "world's biggest cock ring". I won't lie, it was kinda cool. It would have been the tallest monument in the world. The designer pitched it to McClendon and others based upon a budget number. He never told us this number, always a red flag, but we knew the people behind this boondoggle had real fuckin oil money.
We did a design with several other firms to get an estimate of the amount of steel and concrete needed to build the thing, the custom crane that had to be built to erect the thing, amount of material needed to skin the thing. Our estimate was $400-600M. This was from some of the biggest contractors in the U.S., there was a very short list of firms that could pull this off.
The designer was distraught, he had pitched the money people that it would cost about $35M for this vanity project. We had all opined at first viewing that this thing was $300M plus by any measure. Where did you come up with $35M? There was a thing built a few years earlier in Fushon, China; but 2/3 the height for just $16M, the Chinese said the "Ring of Life" cost $16M so it must be true, it was on the internet. How were they going to explain this to the investors? We all shook our heads after spending 6 months working this project.
Needless to say the skyline of this US city is not currently dominated by the world's largest cock ring. But if any of you have a spare $750M-$1B ( my estimate of today's costs ) you wanna get rid of, I know a guy who has preliminary plans for something cool you can reach out to.
Hanging your hat on ridiculous numbers that you know are false is an easy expedient way to stake your claim. But only fools think it won't be exposed at some point.
But Miller, James Davenport and trumpty plumpty are selling bait and switch baubles to the rubes "For a Limited Time Offer!", not to wealthy oil men. So they only need to get through a couple more months to November before the rubes catch on.
And then the rubes would be told the US crime numbers are real again, after trumpty's inauguration. Crime miraculously stopped the day after he was inaugurated, because all the criminals left the country once a strong man took office.
Rubes gonna rube.

Re: We Lost the Battle for the Republican Party’s Soul Long Ago
The best ("best") part is the idiocy of the theory in the first place.
Even if you give credence to Maduro's numbers (which: no, you should not*), we are supposed to think there is some sort of 1:1 relationship between reduced crime in Venezuela and increased (which: evidence please?) crime here?
What is this, the law of the conservation of criminality?**
* Trump ambling into the spin room and vomiting out various percentages as "evidence" of having won a debate he lost (the best evidence of such loss being his presence in the spin room in the first place) comes to mind.
** Of COURSE it's all zero-sum to MAGA. Of COURSE a declining crime rate in a country that tends to generate migration to the US cannot possibly be a good thing for the US. Even though in reality the migrants are overwhelmingly people FLEEING crime, not people fleeing from prosecution FOR crimes. A declining crime rate in Venezuela would be, if true, a GREAT thing for the US.

Didn't Trump say he was going to move to Venezuela if he lost the election?

Re: We Lost the Battle for the Republican Party’s Soul Long Ago
This story really brings the whole thing together. Nazis, Russian disinformation, threats of violence, doubling down on lies. It's trump world in a compact easy to see cycle.
Good people, swastika wearing people, fine patriotic people. They love them some trumpty plumpty. Making hate groups great again. The city hall of Springfield, Ohio, was evacuated Thursday after a bomb threat that comes as the city has become a national focus over racist conspiracy theories about immigrants eating pets.
“Due to a bomb threat that was issued to multiple facilities throughout Springfield today, City Hall is closed today,” the city government said in a post on Facebook. “City of Springfield received a bomb threat that has prompted an immediate response from local and regional law enforcement. As a precautionary measure, the building has been evacuated, and authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation.”
The bomb threat follows the recent popularity of false claims about Haitian immigrants eating pets in the Ohio city, allegations that have been elevated by former President Trump and his 2024 running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance (R).
“What they have done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our country — and look at what’s happening to the towns [in the] United States. A lot of towns don’t want to talk,” Trump said at Tuesday’s presidential debate. “Not going to be Aurora [or] Springfield. A lot of towns don’t want to talk about it, because they’re so embarrassed by it. In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs.”
City officials have denied any reports such pet-consuming incidents.
The bomb threat which resulted in the evacuation of Springfield City Hall in Ohio on Thursday used harmful language against the city’s immigrant community, aligning with recent false claims touted by Republicans, including former President Trump.
Springfield Mayor Rob Rue told The Washington Post that the threat “used hateful language towards immigrants and Haitians in our community.”
According to the Thursday Facebook post from the Ohio city’s government, Springfield “officials were alerted to this threat” by way of “an email message this morning at 8:24 am.” The post said “multiple agencies and media outlets” were among those whom the email was directed to.
“We ask the community to avoid the area surrounding City Hall vicinity while the investigation is ongoing and to report any suspicious activity to the Springfield Police Division,” the post reads. “We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this matter.”
Reached for comment, the Springfield Police Division referred questions to the city manager’s office.
The seeds of Springfield’s turn in the national spotlight were planted at a pro-Nazi march through the town on Aug. 10 and a subsequent City Commission meeting on Aug. 27.
Republicans have widely shared the testimony of local resident Anthony Harris at the meeting, claiming he’d witnessed Haitians hunting park ducks for food; other residents discussed the pros and cons of immigration, including calls to lower the tone.
But the hearing also featured a speaker who claimed to have been “at the head of the anti-Haitian immigration march.”
That speaker used an alias alluding to a racial slur and identified himself as a member of Blood Tribe — a neo-Nazi hate group — and claimed “crime and savagery” would rise with further immigration.
He was shut down and asked to leave the room by Mayor Rob Rue for making threatening statements.
“You’re done, thank you. Thank you so much. Not really thank you, but,” Rue said before moving on to the next speaker.
