Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
So it was a storming? Like a court storming? Celebrating a Biden victory. And it was peaceful, of course. Preserving a 200+ history of such exchanges of power.
Get the phuck out of here.

Let's not with this - that's falling into Trump territory - that's not what he meant there.

This is not intended as disrespectful to the law enforcement officers who were injured, and those who did die, as a result of the insurrection, but: the gravity of the insurrection is only in very small part attributable to the human cost.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 9:39 amNobody on the other side died let me tell you. A defeated candidate organized and participated in a multi-part criminal plot to steal an election by means of force (physical and legal).
The number of dead bodies, and how exactly they became dead, is only so relevant.

Last thing I have to say on this. He said, "I'll say that." I think that's exactly what he meant.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 9:55 amMeh.defixione wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 9:54 am . . . and she 'puts out.'

Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
I did not know what "jerk store answers" meant, but the fact that he is being compared to George Costanza makes sense.
reporter told Donald Trump to "speak up" after he made a surprise appearance in the media spin room after his debate with Kamala Harris.
The Republican presidential candidate talked up his own performance in a noisy room full of reporters: "It was the best debate, personally, that I've ever had. We're getting polls that show 92 percent, 88..." "Mr. President speak louder," a reporter interrupted.
He went on to claim that early polling was showing "90 percent, 60 percent, 72 percent, 71 percent, and 79 percent" of viewers thought he won the debate. "Where are you getting these numbers from?" a reporter asked. Trump did not reply.
Newsweek conducted a reader poll in which 66.7 percent of the 8,000 respondents said Harris had won and only 33.2 percent said Trump was the winner. Most of Newsweek's writers also considered it a Harris victory (nine chose Harris, four said it was a tie, and just one said Trump won.)
CNN host Jake Tapper, who moderated Trump's previous debate with President Joe Biden in June, reacted in real time to the former president's post-debate appearance in the spin room while he was introducing the network's correspondent.
"I think Donald Trump is in the spin room," Tapper said on air. "That is generally not considered a sign of a candidate thinking he had a good night, or she had a good night, when they go to the spin room to clean up what they just did and try to create new headlines or maybe jerk store some answers."
To "jerk store some answers" is to try and return witty comebacks after the moment has passed, a reference to the character George Costanza in the sitcom Seinfeld who is insulted by a co-worker while eating shrimp at a jerk store, and only thinks of a retort afterward in the car.

How is George Constanza being brought into this lol
Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
I think it was just some more garbled talk...I think he said that he admitted that he said that he read about Kamala being "not black" - I think he was trying to tiptoe that entire situation there.jhawks99 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 10:04 amLast thing I have to say on this. Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
That's right on message for you.
When Biden flamed out and lost the debate, Trump was "the greatest debater ever".
When Trump flamed out and lost the debate, "it was rigged".
Gee, where have I heard "if Trump loses then it is only because it was rigged against him"?
You are completely owned by right wing nonsense.
Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
the standings after 2 debates:
ch 1-0
dt 1-1
no need for another debate. unless they turn on the mics. put some butts in the seats. get some mods that i have heard of.

Not surprising you've never heard of David Muir.
Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD

Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
I think that Trump does NOT say things like "put out" without at least understanding the sexual connotations. He's a horn dog.
But I also agree that the specific context also supported "put out" meaning "put forth," and that latching onto this particular thing is entirely irrelevant based on the dozens of things he said that unambiguously go to his obvious unfitness and plain shittiness.
Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
There is no way Trump agrees to another one. He just got worked over. Also, now that Harris has seen what works against him, I can assure you that she will be even better the next time. Smart people are always better the second time they do things than they were the first time.
Harris just showed how easy it is to manipulate Trump. Just as then world's dictatorial leaders easily identified how pliable Trump is when you shower him with praise, Harris showed how weak and flustered he is when he gets called out. If you don't see that they it's because you don't want to admit it.
Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
Losers complain about the rules, the refs, the arena, the crowd. Anything but taking accountability for their own failure. It's true in sports and you're proving it is true in political debates.
Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
exactly. nowhere did i complain that last night was rigged against either competitor.
i just communicated that i long for the good old days of fun lively debates. where the crowd is into the action. the contestants are yelling and talking over each other. and they have a-listers asking the questions.

Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
I suppose it's not entirely coincidental that Fox News literally described its coverage in writing as "post-game."
Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
Harris and Demos should refuse to hold a future debate, if there is one, on Fox.
Fox just paid > ¾ of a billion dollar$ for lying. Why deal with a business you know is crooked, that acts in bad faith? Send a message that if you want to be included in opportunities like the debates present, you can't get away with that kind of shit.

Re: OFFICIAL DEBATE DRINKING THREAD
There were so many times that both of them were talking that I had to go look to see if they changed the rules and I missed it. Trump was given WIDE latitude to speak even when it was not his turn. He spoke 39 times to her 22 or 23 times and got a full five additional minutes of time over the course of the evening.MICHHAWK wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 10:53 am exactly. nowhere did i complain that last night was rigged against either competitor.
