In light of the board's insatiable interest in all things Olive Garden, I'm taking the trouble to bring you up to date on their parent co's., Darden's, (DRI), 2nd fiscal quarter earnings which were reported this morning. Thankfully, our goal for Olive Garden to succeed and continue their pursuit to up the world's collective palate and spread gustatory excellence throughout the known universe in perpetuity is on track, because the earnings report is positive:

Darden Restaurants (NYSE:DRI) reported that total sales increased 9.7% to $2.7B in FQ2, driven by a blended same-restaurant sales increase of 2.8% and sales from the addition of 78 company-owned Ruth's Chris Steak House restaurants and 45 other net new restaurants. The 2.8% same-restaurant sales mark for the quarter beat the consensus estimate of +2.7%.

The same-restaurant sales growth was led by a 4.1% gain for the Olive Garden chain and 4.9% rise for the LongHorn Steakhouse chain, which offset a 1.7% for the company's fine dining restaurants.

EPS for the quarter was $1.84 vs. $1.74 consensus and $1.52 a year ago.

Segment profit: Olive Garden $262.5M from $218.9M a year ago, LongHorn Steakhouse $111.8M from $85.6M a year ago, and Fine Dining $56.6M from $38.9M a year ago.

they don't get nathan but penetration
Unless it smells like sanitation
Gar-bage
I turn like doorknobs
Heart throb never, Black and ugly as ever
However, I stay Coogi down to the socks
Rings and watch filled with rocks
And my jam knock in your Mitsubishi
Girls pee-pee when they see me
Navajos creep me in they teepee
As I lay down laws like Alan Kopit
Stop it - if you think they gonna make a profit
Don't see my ones, don't see my guns, get it?
Just Ledoux it

Anyone here familiar with Chuy's, and if so, care to offer opinion? Olive Garden owner Darden just bot the chain of 101 Chuy's restaurants. They're a chain that started in Texas.

...Chuy's will join Darden's (DRI) stable portfolio of brands that already includes Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Eddie V's, and Bahama Breeze.

Chuy's Holdings (CHUY) was founded in 1982 by Mike Young and John Zapp in Austin, Texas. The first Chuy's restaurant in an old barbecue joint, with seating for about 60 people. The founders aimed to create a fun and funky Tex-Mex restaurant serving fresh, authentic food in a unique atmosphere. Over the years, Chuy's (CHUY) expanded beyond Texas, opening its first out-of-state location in Franklin, Tennessee in 2009. The company went public with a $75.8 million IPO on July 24, 2012.

Chuy's (CHUY) had 101 restaurants in operation across 15 states as of July 16. For the latest twelve months ending March 31, Chuy's (CHUY) generated total revenue over $450 million, an average annual restaurant volume of $4.5 million...

They are the Olive Garden of Mexican Food. The do make tortillas fresh all day. The ones in Lexington always seemed busy. Pretty bland food. Cool pics of aliens all over the dinning room.

So, when Darden starts expanding the chain and it gets to Chicago, Chipotle needn't worry that Chuy's will replace it as Gutter's "favorite Mexican restaurant" ?

Good to know.

The first Chuys is in an old gas station in Austin.

Food kinda depends on location, but their jalapeño ranch dip could be fed into my femoral artery with a caulking gun. That shit is yum!

If it's really bad for you, I'm sure I'd love it.

Well, this should certainly make everyone's day:

Darden Restaurants rallies 11% after earnings, Uber-Olive Garden partnership announcement

...Darden Restaurants (DRI) ended the quarter with 2,040 locations operating, vs. 1,998 at the end of FQ1 a year ago...

Separate from the earnings news, Darden Restaurants (DRI) announced that it entered into an exclusive multi-year delivery partnership with Uber Technologies (UBER) set to begin with Olive Garden in late 2024.

Shares of Darden Restaurants (DRI) jumped 11.15% in premarket trading following the earnings report and Uber (UBER) news.

Giant Restaurant Conglomerates might be as close to sweat shop labor as the US comes.

Also, $20 for Chicken Parm? Come on now! Haha.

Having worked at Maggiano’s for a long time, when I look at their prices compared to when I was there, ooooof. Brinker is Very Proud.
