The assumption that you are guilty of is that because they are being paid in cash that they MUST then be illegal. It might be true but it certainly doesn't mean that it's true. There are many legal workers who get paid in cash by employers looking to skirt the rules and save themselves some money.

My issue was not with the money itself, nor the amount per se. It was with it being in cash/under the table, thus untaxable. If I have to get screwed by the IRS, so should they.

You should come on up and slap her around a bit - you know, show her who’s boss - that you’re onto her. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get a confession; but at the very least, you’ll teach her a valuable lesson and right an unimaginable wrong. My god, you’re too impressive for words!
