Royals
Re: Royals
Royals in a nutshell this month-bases loaded, nobody out, don't score a run.

Re: Royals
So Vinnie is the Royals MVP, yes?
Re: Royals
Does this mean the Royals weren't trying to avoid making the playoffs, after all?

No, I was making a joke since they've had 2 seven-game losing streaks in ~ the last 3-4 weeks, it seems like they didn't want to make the playoffs.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 10:05 amWell, this is the best weather time of year in KC. Can’t blame them for wanting to be able to enjoy it.
For reals, though, have you read stuff like that elsewhere?

Re: Royals
Q has a terrible issue scratching out runs. Been saying it for two years. I don't know that he is even fixable. Bunting would be great. At least Fermin is hitting the ball again with authority. Even into line out DPs is progress. The ball is dead though. HR production just fell off the cliff everywhere. You see a lot of spectacular catches as the ball dies. Pham even had one

But let's also understand Vinnie was 3rd in the American League in RBI's at the time he got injured.

Re: Royals
Oh all props to Vinnie. The fact that no one has been able to hit without him in there… Yowsers. They are all supposed to be professional hitters at the end of the day.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:16 pmTrue.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 12:37 pm The team’s inability to produce runs minus Vinnie has reached comical levels.

Next man up? Nah, we good.
Re: Royals
This very much exemplifies a major reason why baseball is so far down on the totem pole in pro sports -- teams like the Royals cannot miss -- other teams have spent 200 million dollars more than the Royals and have a greater chance to make mistakes/fill those needs.
Re: Royals
Vinnie propped up a manager who cannot manage risk/reward. We were lucky he wasn't still platooning him with someone like Hampson. If KC can spend any money, piching and coaching is where it is at. Need to look hard at the coaching staff this winter. I want to see hitters develop. Not go to Omaha to die
Re: Royals
Certainly have to wonder about hitting coaching. The Royals seem to have an inordinate amount of first pitch strikes looking called against them, and not just the first time through the order. It's like scouting reports tell pitchers to throw a strike down the middle against them on the first pitch because they won't swing. It happens all up and down the order as well.
Re: Royals
That is exactly it. The Royals are always working on pitch count instead of fundamentals. Pretty easy to spot a trend.

Deep breaths. Come on Twins, lose this one tonight!
