I'm not going to say zero chance but I am going to say I doubt it. Does it really matter one way or the other at this point?

P.S. If Grimes is canned, Daniels should help him pack his bags and drive him to the airport. He has played a substantial role in contributing to it.
Look after last year we were on such an upward trajectory that this is going to cause ramifications.

There is no way to explain this years performance. There is a lot riding on the success of this football team.

However you want to look at it and whoever you want to blame the future went from very bright to I really do not see us getting out of this.
Your last sentence is a very unfortunate one, when so many people had such high hopes for the future.

As I said in 2019 about the KU Football program after we had an 0-9 season, "nowhere to go but up". Took a couple of seasons but no doubt we went "up".
As I said in 2022 when everyone was on such a high when KU was 5-0, "nowhere to go but down". KU proceeded to go 1-7 the rest of the season. Last year gave us hope again but fool me/us once.....
As I am going to say today 9/29/24, when KU is 1-4 and people are rightfully upset, "nowhere to go but inevitably not being much more than a mediocre program, if that, for the next decade, no matter if Lance Leipold is our head coach or someone else is".

Ok. So that 2022 when we were cruising at 5-0 and had ESPN gameday what happened for us to go 1-7 the rest of the way?

I don't know. I have some thoughts but I can't give you a definitive answer.
Can I say losing Daniels probably hurt us? It's not as if Bean was bad.

Yes it was JD getting hurt. Bean just wasn't JD. Never was never would be.

Which is the funny part of this situation. People blaming the QB for some of our current problems.

It seems to be kind of a Venn diagram between the OC, Daniels not being who he was physically or mentally, and a less-than-stellar offensive line.

The run game works until the defense wakes up and stacks the box, at which point Daniels is forced to pass.

Any defense that has watched video knows to overplay the screens and short sideline routes, which forces Daniels to read the defense and pass over the middle.

When it takes him more than a few seconds to get rid of the ball, because he seems incapable of checking down his options in a systematic fashion, he is rushed and either throws a ridiculous interception, is strip sacked, or throws a screen pass to a covered receiver on 3rd and 9.

A competent OC would design plays to help him get rid of the ball faster, would work with the O-line to scheme better protection, and/or would bring in a QB who can get through his read progressions and make a good decision on the passing game, as it takes next to no skill to do the other part of the job, which is handing off to our backs.

Grimes has sucked out loud. He needs to be gone first thing Monday.

Daniels is either a head case or is not physically capable of doing his job. He needs a seat on the sideline where he can either get his head straight or finish out his last season of organized football doing something other than being a complete disaster for the program.

Leipold needs to publicly acknowledge that they made a poor hiring decision, rested on their laurels in developing a starting QB for this season, apologize to the fans and donors, and assure everyone that they will fix what is broken.

Failing any of these items, you will see attendance dwindle, donor money dry up, and a major shakeup in KUAD.

As a fan, I’m not interested in the process, for the most part. Don’t get me wrong, witnessing the transition under LL has been pretty great to watch and root for.

As the landscape of how rosters are built, players bought and paid for, etc…fuck that. You better just perform or we’ll replace you.

The players are going to leave if results aren’t there anyway, so what’s the point of seeing something out that won’t be here next year? (Daniels in particular)

Apparently, Purdue's AD can recognize when enough is enough: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/415 ... am-harrell

"Purdue fired offensive coordinator Graham Harrell on Sunday as the team has struggled to score points against FBS competition.

Harrell, a record-setting quarterback for Texas Tech under Mike Leach, was the first significant staff hire for Boilermakers coach Ryan Walters in 2022. They pursued and ultimately landed transfer quarterback Hudson Card, and Purdue scored 49 points and 35 points in wins over Minnesota and Indiana late last season.

But after opening with 49 points against Indiana State, an FCS program, Purdue has scored only 38 total points in losses to Notre Dame, Oregon State and Nebraska. The Boilermakers did not reach the end zone until 1:29 remained in Saturday's 28-10 home loss to Nebraska.

"Decisions like this are never easy," Walters said in a statement. "After evaluating our start to the season, I felt that it was best for our team to make a change now. We are appreciative of Graham's contributions to our program and wish him the best going forward."

Walters did not immediately announce who will handle offensive playcalling and coaching the quarterbacks."

Am I reading that wrong or was the guy they got rid of hired at Purdue in 2022?

I feel like that is different than firing someone less than 2 months into their time somewhere.

Will firing the OC make of the offensive line and defensive line better? Play calling is only a portion of the problem.

Granted. But are you saying that, if you can't immediately solve 100% of the problem, you should address 0% of the problem, then?

Yes, it is different. He also only had one more year on his contract. Grimes has 2 more years after this season.
I don't know if firing the OC makes the O and D lines better but firing their OC probably makes some/most of the Purdon't fans happy (for a moment or two). Meanwhile, their team is still going to blow for the foreseeable future.

Too long. Let’s go with Perfesser Big Bucks, or PBB for short. I even spelled it like you would, in your honor.
