Hate to say it but I may need to take my meds too. After 11/5 I might not disagree with what MICH posted.

The biggest blunder in US political history is more likely to be the GOP choosing to stick with Trump when they could have buried him after either of his two impeachments and moved on.MICHHAWK wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 8:42 am dt is a horrible man. horrible. and the demonrats run against him, the only person in their party that the horrible man can hang with. anybody else would be running circles around the horrible man.
not taking the time when old uncle retired. may end up the biggest blunder in US politics history.
I will never forget what MAGA traitors have done to this great nation and I doubt I am alone in that.

BUT, he will also go down as a symbol of the demise of the GOP - of all things, he grossly underestimated the strength of antidemocratic (and anti-Democratic) sentiment in our country, and ended up saddling the GOP with the one realistic candidate who wouldn't have run away with 2024.

Well if the democrats wanted to run a decent candidate, they'd have to actually hold a primary. But they don't beleive in democracy anymore. Instead they just try to appoint the next puppet of the military industrial machine

Randy, why do you keep saying this? My state held a primary. I voted in it. Those votes equaled delegates that vote for the candidate the party puts forward for the general election. That is how it works in a state with a primary. Some states have caucuses.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 10:21 am Well if the democrats wanted to run a decent candidate, they'd have to actually hold a primary. A couple of states did not have primaries because there was no one else competing. For example, when Nikki Haley dropped out of the race, Delaware did not hold a Republican presidential primary and gave all the delegates to Trump.
This (no primary for President), is not uncommon when a sitting President is in the race. For instance, Florida did not hold a Democratic Primary when Clinton and Obama were running for their second terms as President. Florida did not hold a Primary this year because, at the time, Biden was running for a second term.
Randy, turn off your radio and do your own research. You do not have to be a sheep.

Who won your states primary? Biden. Many states didn't have one. The democrats had a long term plan of replacing him. Which is why the Trump/biden debate occurred as the earliest decade ever in an election cycle. That's not a coincidence.DrPepper wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 11:11 amRandy, why do you keep saying this? When kamala harris was actually a choice in the 2020 primary, she received less than 4% support from her own party
The sheep will tell you kamala harris is a rightly elected candidate. But anyone else will realize the people never chose her. They found a way to "appoint her" and somehow people like yourself are playing along

I would surmise that most Democrats are okay with Kamala to represent them as the D candidate for president. What I don't understand is why you are in such a rage about how she was selected. You would never vote for a Dem so why the hissy fit? If she is as stupid as you and psych contend, she doesn't have a chance in this election which should make the both of you happy.

Re: Kamala! Fuck Yeah!
Every bad trait of Trump needs to be countered by Bothsiderism so since Trump is called a threat to democracy, they needed to find something about Harris that is a threat to democracy and this is what they came up with.defixione wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 6:52 pm I would surmise that most Democrats are okay with Kamala to represent them as the D candidate for president. The reality is that they are just pissed that Trump is less likely to win vs. Harris than he was against Biden.

I was thinking, if we find ourselves in a similar situation in this upcoming election that we had in 2020, would Harris be the one to certify the vote?
It seems that would be, or appear to be, a conflict of interest.
On the other hand, would that duty then fall on Mike Johnson, who very few would say would be trustworthy to carry out that duty?

She will be performing a ceremonial function, and besides the party of Clarence Thomas can fuck right off about conflicts of interest vis a vis certifying elections.
But this does interact with the uniqueness of the timing involved here - as the new Congress is sworn in on January 3, the composition of Congress (as of January 6, again the certification date) will be dependent on November results.
