Walz made a positive impression on me too tho, compared to my expectation and negative propaganda ive seen about him. I had heard walz was nervous about the debate and didn't feel it was his strong suit (I think most people would relate to that)
Vance certainly lies as comfortably as anyone I have ever seen. He's a slick man who hides his repulsiveness better than Trump does. But that doesn't change how repulsive he is.

I certainly think the two most important moments of last night were (1) Vance lying through his teeth - and knowing that everyone knows it - about 2020, and (2) Vance throwing a temper tantrum about being fact-checked.

Vance built a pretty house. But he is showing you through his words and actions that that pretty house is moldy and crumbling on the inside* and constructed on a latticework of soggy toothpicks.

* Among many other things, his support (as a man married to and parenting with an Indian woman) of Trump’s open racism and misogyny tells you all you need to know of his morals and where they sit vis a vis his ambition.

The best I heard: “Vance looks like the guy you casually keep your hand over your drink while he tries to impress you about crypto at the bar.”

Lyinging smoothly shouldn't be a positive. Vance has made clear the policies that Trump's administration will implement. That's enough of a disqualifier as most have either been proven already to be negative (tariffs, tax breaks for ultra wealthy, abortion bans), have been reviewed by experts and projected to be negative (his "fixes" for the economy and immigration).

“Looks like” is doing some heavy lifting there.

There’s no doubt that he is intelligent and strategic in a way Trump is not. He is also principled in a way Trump is not.

Those things do not make him “better” than Trump - they make him dangerous in a way that Trump is not. Because the principles are rotten.

You get the distinct sense that, unlike Trump, he would actually have an idea of what to do with the towering powers of the Presidency, as aided by his ideological patrons on the Court.

It's an open admission that a good chunk of what MAGA supporters really like is just being able to say whatever the fuck lies they can drum up. The fact that they can't generate any truthful reasons to support their own platform should be a sign of the moral depravity
of their honest platform.

I have always felt that the most dangerous person that could be in the White House is someone with the same level of moral depravity as Trump but who is intelligent, a better liar and not as off-putting as Trump. Vance is more of that but not quite there yet due to his absurd stance on women.

The interesting thing I have observed in comments after the debate is that rubepublicans, Dems and independents agree; that of the four debate contestants, turmpty plumpty is one who is least fit to be president when temperament, intellect and cognitive skills are taken into account.

It is also clear that there can be no serious "debate" if trumpty plumpty is in the mix.

JD is reptilian in his ability to shed his skin and beliefs in the pursuit of power. He will be reborn as a never trumper if they lose the election. He will become a super trumper if they win. He is absolutely skeazy and spineless in his power lust. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the heir apparent to Lindsey Graham.

He is (and his patrons are) using the desiccated-but-somehow-squishy husk of Trump as a Trojan horse of sorts. The many odious aspects of Vance’s own character are simply not as loud as Trump’s personal failings.

THIS

But, there are dozens elbowing each other for this position, so Janelle D’Vance better stay focused.

I don't agree with Vance's positions on things and he's doubled down on the Trump ethos of facts don't matter but the guy is charismatic, affluent and not obnoxious ( and was civil which was a breath of fresh air ).

But guess what? Walz was those things too.

Two posts in a row he proved HE is a "moron".
You guys got me! Way to go! Besties 4 Ever!
Yes, we got (and get) you - and to you?
No, we are not besties, but speaking for myself and not him... I find your recent focus and false labeling of the both of us to be somewhat telling - and frankly, a bit troubling.
Yeah, that's not going to work.

I think Vance did a very good job pretending to be not obnoxious - and I think Walz left a lot of points on the table by not pinning him in those corners.

This was the moment when vance fact checked the moderators in front of the whole country, and vance was right. Those immigrants did not go through the process of becoming "legal", but rather a temporary legal status with a asterisk by it. And the people should know that part of the equation.

It exposed how biased the media is and was an embarrassment for them, which is why they silenced his mic

Vance is a pathological liar who lies so naturally some see it as charisma. Lebensraum sounds awfully damned accommodating with the right demeanor. A dangerous time we are in.
