Today's edition of WTF?
Last night about 3 blocks from me, woman "falls" from the top of a building on to the sidewalk near Michigan and Ontario. People witness it. Dead.
This morning, less than 12 hours after last night's incident, about 3 blocks from me, major car accident. People witness it. Lake Shore Drive has been closed going north for about the past 2 hours. At least one if not more people Dead.
Happy Thursday!

I shouldn't, but I will ask it.
If he was white and she was a an unattractive brunette with small breasts, would I have seen them on TV today?
Being more serious, they both are actually pretty good at their job/s so I like to think - yes, but I have my strong doubts.

Add TD Bank to the list of banks that I will never use.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/10/investin ... index.html

"More than 90% of transactions went unmonitored between January 2018 to April 2024, which “enabled three money laundering networks to collectively transfer more than $670 million through TD Bank accounts,” according to a legal filing.

In one instance, TD Bank employees collected more than $57,000 worth of gift cards to process more than $470 million in cash deposits from a money laundering network to “ensure employees would continue to process their transactions” and not declare them in required reports, the DoJ said."

I dealt with (and learned) 3 unexpected credit related things this morning....

1. When I used my credit card to put gas in a car I had rented, I was immediately charged a lot more than the amount it should have been. Well, I was not really "charged" but a "hold" was put on the card.

2. For some unknown reason, when Amazon Prime tried to use my credit cardS (PLURAL) for my annual renewal this morning, my credit card companies DECLINED the charge and initiated a fraud alert. 3 different ones. Capital One, Chase, and Amex. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!????? I spent over an hour trying to clarify everything. Keeping my fingers crossed that now all is well that ends well. I'm not going to hold my breath.

3. I get my "pay check" direct deposited in to my account on the 15th and last day of the month. If the 15th and/or last day of the month are on a Saturday or Sunday or national/bank holiday, I get paid the day/s before. I also have a few "automatic" payments deducted/debited on the 15th and last day of the month.
This morning when I looked at my account on line - I had been paid (the 15th "paycheck") and the "automatic" payments were deducted. Why?
Well..... I didn't realize the 14th is Columbus Day - until I looked this morning.

Moral of my sharing all this.....
I don't know. I guess I felt the need to put final closure on my last unexpected hour and a half.

didn't they just get busted for knowingly allowing the cartel to process laundered money through them as well?

Nah, I wasn't gping to bust your chops for it because I have been guilty of the same thing at times. It's all good.

I just find it utterly deplorable that a major financial organization like that deliberately put the jobs and legal freedom of their employees at risk like that. If my employer asked me to break the law like that, especially to benefit a drug cartel, I would 100% turn whistle-blower on them. That's completely fucked up.

Driving on my way out of KC heading east on I-70 earlier today heading to a jobsite. As we get closer to the Manchester cutoff, I see a mile or so ahead on the road what looks like a person standing in the middle lane of the three lanes waving at traffic. I hit brakes as all three lanes start slowing down. The person runs over the north shoulder and is still waving and jumping, but out of traffic.

Everyone is driving slowly, I assume to ensure her safety. As we get closer, I look over and there is a woman standing there buck neked, flailing and shaking and she has something black smeared all over her. I look ahead so that I don't run into anyone, and had to look back to see; did I just see what I thought I saw?

Yep, buck naked woman jumping and screaming.

I tell the young engineer riding with me to call 911 to report this before someone gets killed. She calls, and the dispatcher asks if this is about the woman on I-70? Yes. OK we are already on it.

I tell the other engineer, that is something I have never seen before.

She says, oh I saw that not too long ago. Neked woman in the highway.

I says; the hell you say?

She tells me she lives in Wyandotte County. Say no more.

We tell the story when we get back to the office. Another engineer says, oh yeah, she was downtown KCMO over the weekend and there was a neked dude walking around late on Saturday night in the road.

Where are these naked people in the road coming from and how is WEF involved?

When I bought my F150 there were compromises to be made since I only buy used vehicles. When it came time to pull the trigger I had to make a choice, Ass Crack Ventilation Technology, or those fold out old man steps on the front side of the bed to reach into the longer taller truck bed.

Image

ACVT won the day. I figured I could pick up a pair of those steps on Facebook marketplace and put them on my own damn self. Wiring the ACVT was likely beyond my skillset. So couple of weeks ago I got the steps!

$200! Less than a third of the price of retail!

Annie says, "you gonna take that to the garage and have them put those on for you?"

Hell no god damn it, I have tools and WD40, I can do this.

First try; if I leave the step assembly on the mounting bracket I can reduce the mounting to one step!

Genius!

They don't look like much but everything is 1/8" steel and they must weigh 50-60 lbs. I have to lay on my back in the driveway on a creeper and hold them directly above my face with one arm while trying to feed bolts into holes I can not see. They are not easy to balance. It's a good one and a half hour workout in the hot sun though, I don't give up easily. I spend another hour taking them apart ( like it shows in the damn instructions) and wait until the next weekend. My shoulders hurt now.

I start again, it takes two hours to get the damn things on and add enough grease to the mechanisms to make them work. I yell triumphantly in the driveway. Annie looks out thinking I might have smashed my face while laying under one of the damn things.

"Victory Is Mine!!!", I yell with both fists pumping the air.

She just nods and goes back to talking to her kittens. It's Sunday and she wants some intelligent, thought provoking conversation today.

When I come in I tell her that I was thinking, that once upon a time I put an ARB bullbar bumper on my Land Rover all by myself. Lifted the fucker up and held it with one arm and balanced the other on my knee while laying on my back and fished the bolts through the mounting bracket and through the bumper, without so much as a whimper.

She stared at me for a second; "Yeah, you were 20 years younger when you did that."

OK, tru dat.

I went to the kitchen and fired up the vape for a medicinal preemptive inflamation/soreness dose of ganja. I felt better immediately.

"Victory Is Mine!!!" I yelled again upon my triumphant return to the living room. My dog nodded affirmatively, Dok still thinks I'm cool.

It's not as heroic as shingling your own 9/12 pitch roof but it's the best I can do these days.

I remember when I installed a 12k winch on a steel bumper and THEN lifted and bolted it in by myself.

No freaking way I could do that now.

It's not suspicious whatsoever that Mich disappeared and out of nowhere someone named BiggDick suddenly appeared, except less astute.

Does anyone remember KUOirad? He's been a track marshall at the Circuit of the Americas race track and he procured tickets for my son and i for this weekend's formula One race.

Score!!! Enjoy the weekend.

Last year my daughter bought me Turn 1 stand tickets as a gift, ostensibly for my milestone birthday, but really so she could go. Fantastic experience, but those bastards DQd LeClerc and Lewis. Turn 1 stand is probably the best seat in the house. She is there, at Turn 19 this time because they raised the price by nearly 100% for the Turn 1 stand.
