Turns out, if you are dumb enough to make comments about "lining up and shooting" people who don't vote for kamala, you lose your job

Please help me out. I honestly don't know. Was he specifically referring to the upcoming election and Kamala Harris when he was giving his lecture?

My guess is that both professors had a Code of Ethics they had to sign on to and follow as terms of their employment.JKLivin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 5:47 pm
Although I agree with the narrative about Kamala's low IQ, which means I don't think comments about it justify his taking umbrage, I also feel like ruining a man's career over such remarks is over the line. As someone who passed his professional licensure exams - both basic and advanced - the first time, I don't have the same feelings of accommodation that you do for her.
I am very close to someone who lost their first academic post almost twenty years ago because of a crude political cartoon posted on their office door. It offended a tenured colleague who then stalked their Facebook page, where the cartoon was also posted, and rallied other tenured faculty to complain to the Dean, and later, the President, of the college to demand their removal. Despite the fact that it was pretty tame by today's standards, it cost them their job. It took them a good five years to get anything other than adjunct work again, before another school finally took a chance on them.
In their case, they were a new Ph.D. in their early thirties, so they had time to recover. Lowcock, it seems, will not have that good fortune. I genuinely hurt for him, despite the fact that I completely disagree with his actions.
Making the comments to students in class likely was a violation of that code for Lowcock. While the action of letting him go might have been a predetermined sentence, the public vilification and destroying the man seems like a step beyond.
As a licensed profession you probably have a code of ethics as well. I am registered in 35 States and the Codes vary to some extent in every State. As part of continuing education I have to stay up to date on those and how they may vary in particular States. One principle in every State is an obligation to report. There is also an obligation to address other licensed professionals and give them a chance to address or correct prior to bringing it to a board in many cases. If they don't, then the licensed professional noting the ethics violation is required to make the Board aware of a possible violation.
Dr Roger Marshall being a physician and military officer and State Representative should be familiar with those. He seems to have amplified allegations and publicly called for firing prior to having all of the facts. I wonder if he violated any ethical conduct codes in his social posting? His behavior seems reckless and irresponsible at best, maybe even unethical. What do you think Doctor?

I think Marshall, like many others out there, overreacted and, as often happens, that overreaction cost someone their livelihood. If I had access to Marshall, I would have told him to leave it alone and let KU handle their employee internally rather than grandstanding and feeding the oUtRAgE mill. It’s just sad and silly beyond words.japhy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 4:09 pmMy guess is that both professors had a Code of Ethics they had to sign on to and follow as terms of their employment.JKLivin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 5:47 pm

Fair enough; no thoughts on whether whether the grandstanding that led to loss of livelihood would or should be considered unethical?
So Kamala is dumb and unintelligent? On what observations, data, facts do you base this opinion? You seem pretty emphatic about this. Being a Doctor I would assume you base this opinion on evidence.
I am part of the HR process, and have interviewing a lot of hugely educated people for decades. Listening to Kamala and looking at her resume, she would be offered a job if I was interviewing.
But your education provably gives you a different perspective, maybe better insights into human behavior.

I’m not a medical doctor; I’m a Ph.D., so I couldn’t speak intelligently to medical ethics. Shirley would likely have a good handle on that. I would guess that Marshall could successfully argue that he was acting in his senatorial capacity, not as a medical doctor, even if there was an issue.japhy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 1:50 pmJKLivin wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 10:25 am I think Marshall, like many others out there, overreacted and, as often happens, that overreaction cost someone their livelihood. Intelligence is multifaceted. I wouldn’t argue that her inability to speak without a teleprompter points to low verbal intelligence and that her struggles to speak to policy without written prompts speaks to poor analytical skills. I’m guessing she is higher in intrapersonal measures, but high staff turnover would point to low interpersonal intelligence. No guesses as to mathematical or spatial reasoning skills. Overall, I think she’s ill-equipped to be POTUS.

Good thing Trump can speak without a teleprompter.

You were asked awhile back for a link to a definitive view of Kamala's eyes showing dilation in support of your diagnosis of her benzos abuse. This seems to be in your area of expertise/practice/experience. Were you ever able to find an image of her during the debate that supported that? You seemed pretty sure of that previously.JKLivin wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 2:06 pm I’m not a medical doctor; I’m a Ph.D., so I couldn’t speak intelligently to medical ethics.
