Teenager friendly bar/grill for game

Post by MAUBOW »

Hey all...will be in Lawrence for the day on Thursday with the wife and 13yr old daughter. Haven't been back in 5 yrs and need somewhere to watch the game that we all can have some food and the wife and I can have a few beers too. Staying downtown. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'd roll with Dempsey's.
It's just off Mass on Vermont between 6th and 7th.
Good burgers, several TV's, should be a good crowd.

I can't promise someone won't scream a curse word or two but i'd say it's mostly 'teen' friendly.

Jefferson's will try to charge you just to sit at a high top.
Non teen friendly word them.

Lawrence has lost a few good watch spots downtown over the years.
Vermont St BBQ, Mass Street Deli, and, though it's a chain, BWW's were great places to watch the games.
If you don't want to be downtown give me Johnny's, Henry T's, Wayne N Larry's.

Err, I don't think it's a sports bar per se...they have a bar with a TV or two?

Speaking of downtown, who's been to the competitor of India Palace RIGHT across the street?

At one time it was the Big Six club...went there back in the early - mid 90s

the new spot is right across from free state, black stag brewery

i’d second dempsy’s

or, it’s a short walk across the bridge to johnny’s, if pizza is what you’re looking for

Trad, what do you think about Lawrence beer co?

Been there about 5-6 times. The food has always been bad to terrible. Atmosphere is great and beer is good, though.

been twice, last time on new year’s day. amazing huevos rancheros last time, but remember not being overly impressed the first time.

service coulda been better both times, but they were also crazy busy both times.

i’m not a big beer guy, so probably wouldn’t go there without being invited by others

edit to add, there is another new brewery getting ready to open on east 23rd by the haskell overpass/bridge...converted the old lumber yard

I haven't eaten there and I don't think highly of their beer. It's loud as hell (was only half full) because of the acoustics so I just hung out outside. Was it my ADHD/Autism that makes me think that? I don't know. Outside was fine but I don't think I saw any TVs out there.

Johnny's is a main stay, then there's Frank's on Locust @5th in N. Law, right next to Tropicana and El Matador.
