There aren't two sides to an 'is the earth round or flat'.

But here is JFish's first example:

"Trump Faces Tough Questions From Hispanic Voters, but Largely Defends or Dodges" - 'lies' would be more accurate than 'defends'

There are absolutely multiple sides to how you would present that headline and article.
To say that 'lies' is more accurate than 'defends' is not being objective.

This also isn't even mentioning the fact that this article even exists on this publication - that they chose to cover this story at all.

"Bloomberg predicts 100-percent chance of recession next year dealing blow to Biden." But not only did it never happen, the economy has flourished in unprecedented ways. And people still think the country is going the wrong direction because of the Times and MSM. But the forecast.

I was literally just going top-down, so, chronologically.

And frankly, if even things as laughably egregious as, "Trump Plays Music After Medical Emergencies Derail Town Hall" were uncommon, I probably wouldn't even bother to comment.

But they're not.

This happens all the time, at outlets who will claim objectivity, which is why I describe the issue as consistent and programmatic. Hell, there's even an X account with nearly 300,000 followers dedicated to parodying this misleading practice of sanewashing in headlines.

No doubt.
But then you need to think about where those followers of that X account lie in the spectrum of leftsville/rightsville.

I think the NYT could possibly be ( to you ) what you call sane-washing due to respect of what they feel is objective journalism and not so they don't offend a reader enough to where they won't be a customer.
They aren't getting a certain type of customer regardless - again, scroll down on their homepage and see the types of articles they write about - it leans left.

So to you they are sane-washing. To me they are attempting, even painfully so, to be objective with their headline choices.

"Trump Plays Music After Medical Emergencies Derail Town Hall"

This is exactly the cold, clinical, neutral headline I want.
I'm all for it.
It is presenting facts.

Trump played music.
He did? OK, let me find out more. [ more facts ] He played that music for that long? Now I, personally, can determine what that means to me.

Medical Emergencies derail town hall.
There were two medical emergencies from what I have read from multiple reputable outlets. Shouldn't this be a part of the headline?

I really think if this is an egregious of a headline as you believe it to be then you are firmly in the left-bubble. Sorry my man.

You use "objective" like it means "in the middle." I think that is wrong.

I of course would agree that "they are attempting, even painfully so, to" maximize revenue "with their headline choices."

I am saying that may not be true or might not be the primary factor.
It's the NYT.
randy and psych ain't reading that shit - ever - no matter the headline. Hell, they can barely read.

As this is very obviously an Earth Two situation - seriously, you think that "Trump Plays Music After Medical Emergencies Derail Town Hall" is anything close to an accurate description of what happened? that's exactly how you would describe what happened in that number of characters to someone relying on you to preview the full story using only that number of characters? - I will leave you be on this topic.

I am not.
Please re-read the specific headline articles you highlighted and do some retrospection on why you might think they aren't being objective.

Absolutely closer than what I imagine your description would be, yes.

"Trump has mental breakdown, unsure of his current reality, while swaying to music for an extended amount of time".

THAT'S THE TICKET!

I read a lot, actually. I simply don't have time for b.s. like that peddled by the "mainstream" media.

On one side, JFish is nit-picking at headline choices.
On the other side, JK thinks multiple reputable news outlets are manipulated by a particular sect of the government and/or a Deep State secretly controlling the nation/world.

It's like saying, man, Veach really could have done a few things in the draft that could make the Chiefs better and boy Andy Reid could use some work on clock management...and then turning your head and seeing the Browns, the Broncos, the Saints and the Jets.

Really puts things into perspective.

How would you then describe what happened between, say, 1650-1850, if not using the term “colonization”? “Occupation”? “Ethnic cleansing”? “Apartheid”? “We stole it fair and square”?

Colonization seems to be the most innocuous of all of these!!

Dude, it doesn’t matter who was doing it. We’re talking about what we’re calling it, and your taking exception to that. “Stealing and killing” are “stealing and killing” no matter who’s doing the stealing and killing.
