Shut them out in the second half. Huge step forward. Refs taking plays away piss me off late.Jayhawkerr wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 5:30 pm Happy to get this win. Offense played well, JD has been on the past two games, D held them to 14.

First down after another holding call.

Yep. I should be happy with the W. 1 down 5 to go.

A game like this against an inferior opponent after the dog shit start is exactly what the team needed...and not bc it's a win.AlOerter wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 5:23 pmThe question to me is has it been better execution or better play calling? Also, Houston hasn't been great.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 5:20 pm I'm curious how people feel about the Seniors helping Grimes keep his job.
With this, and with the execution today, it has shown what the team is capable of.
The next three weeks, although according to record, we will be underdogs (most likely) in all 3...entering the season, we were expected to be one of the big kids in the league. Therefore, we should definitely be expected to be competitive in these games, and be able to execute as we have today, at least to a certain degree.
So, it will expose bad coaching for bad coaching. With a sample size and understood expectations. Or so we can hope.

That was a good and much needed game.

5 games too late, unfortunately.

Next 3 are against ranked teams so we aren’t winning 6 this year ( no bowl which just seems so wrong ).
BUT we could play spoiler to ksu or ISU both of which would be a distant silver lining for this letdown of a season.

If we beat KSUck, I’d be willing to say all is forgiven for this pile of crap season.

I’m not there but i am in that vicinity.
ie if you’d have given me the choice of 4-8 and beat ksu or 6-6 but loose to ksu and go to a poop bowl with no guarantee on bowl results, I’d still have chosen poop bowl, but it’d be close.
5-7 though would give me pause. Is playing in a poop bowl better than being a game away from poop bowl and beating ksu in manhattan ? Prob not.
Re: KU vs Houston 24
My comment was made just after getting a TD to put us up 3 scores in the 4th. I was feeling pretty confident that we would not give this one away. Sad that 21+ points in the 4th is what it takes.
I've given up hope for a bowl, poop or otherwise. Crushing statie would be very cool. If we played like we did today, and stop their QB from rushing for 150, I think we could pull it off.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: KU vs Houston 24
I haven't given up on anything. The Big XII is pretty much competitive top to bottom. Daniels is starting to look like himself. Bad luck, some bad decisions are allthat has kept this team from 7-0. Win at KSU.

Re: KU vs Houston 24
I understand the optimism for a bowl game, and I agree with the ability of the team to get to six wins.
The luck of this team, as you said has been bad. Not the bad play from JD6 early. That was just bad. Plays like the bouncing fumble against UNLV, though…and then yesterday, the ball off the hands of a UH receiver late into the hands of another receiver that got them to first and goal. Just bad luck. Still not convinced it’s the price of playing in Missouri or not.
Yesterday it didn’t matter, as we out classed Houston all day. Against the next three, we are likely to be in close games, or perhaps run out of stadium on road in all three (yeah Camerohead is @ISU).
We will see, and I’m looking forward to the games. But really, ugh, as underclassmen that would play ‘when all hope is lost’ won’t see as much playing time the second half of season in this scenario. And, minus the obvious restock from the portal that’s coming in offseason, most of us here have little clue what the team will look like from a talent standpoint next year.
But, 2/3 of the stadium will be shiny and new, so the JoCo folks will have a good experience and no doubt show up, if not for more than one year.
