Too often people try to kill the messenger instead of comprehending the message. Notice none of you have addressed kamala completely flippflopping on the border subject. She agrees with trump on something she once called him racist for
Re: What happened to the immigration thread?
Can you be more specific? What are the specific details you are referencing? I would happily comment on it if I knew what you were talking about specifically so I can review it.randylahey wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:17 am Too often people try to kill the messenger instead of comprehending the message. Re: What happened to the immigration thread?
The way biden/harris have handled the border is 2 possible things: Complete incompetence or deliberate action. Day 1 they made executive actions to change trumps border policies. That was the catalyst for the record illegal immigration than followed the next few years. Do you think it was incompetence or deliberate? It doesn't matter, because either way it's unacceptable and the reason trump will be reelected
Re: What happened to the immigration thread?
I just sat and watched the video and she absolutely did not say that she now thinks that the border wall is a good idea. All she said was that she supported the bipartisan bill and that this was part of the bill. Sometimes you have to give the other side something that you may not feel is very effective to get the things you feel are going to be effective. It's called compromising and is the heart of bipartisan negotiations. This is what actual ADULTS do when they try to solve a problem.randylahey wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 8:22 pmIt's the whole point of the post. In the video... kamala derails. Focus on the video... he's probably just a random person that posted a clip from kamalas disaster on cnn
It's one of many things trump was right about. But the democrats instead called him racist, based on nothing. Almost everything the media has told you about trump was a lie or a twist on the truth

And the fact kamala openly is for amnesty of illegals. And the democrats openly oppose voters ID. Strongly suggest it was a deliberate attempt to lure in large numbers of illegals, get them to swing states, grant them amnesty, and import votes. For people elected to look out for the best interests of a country, it's treason
Re: What happened to the immigration thread?
Granting someone amnesty does not grant them the right to vote in a federal election. You keep skipping over this little hurdle like it doesn't exist.randylahey wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:27 am And the fact kamala openly is for amnesty of illegals. JFC! Your lack of reading comprehension and self awareness is frightening. Almost as frightening as the shit you believe, and make up, and present as being factual.randylahey wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:17 am Too often people try to kill the messenger instead of comprehending the message. Multiple people commented in regards to what you feel was her "flip-flopping".
Overlander - "To me, Kamala has every right to change her approach and her plans to adjust to an ever changing situation".
fish - "I think we go WAY overboard in criticizing policymakers for doing…exactly what we hope the people important to us do, which is (put one way, of many) to be open to receiving, digesting and acting on new and better information".
Trad - "consensus and compromise would seem to be essential to any legitimate democratic process"
She agrees with Trump on what exactly? That we need to do a better job at the border? Yes, she agrees with him on that. What else?
Again, I am not saying she didn't (she very well may have), but can/will you please provide specific examples of when she called Trump racist (and a "xenophobe" - as you claimed she did) for the building of the wall.

Re: What happened to the immigration thread?
She is NOT simply "for amnesty of illegals". Where did you hear/read that? Do you mean she is "for" an "EARNED pathway to citizenship"? Then yes, she is.randylahey wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:27 am And the fact kamala openly is for amnesty of illegals. And the democrats openly oppose voters ID. You believe the Dems openly oppose voters ID? Yes, it's semantics but my response to that is - No, wrong. Democrats don't oppose someone using an ID to vote. Some/many/most/but not all, oppose IDs being REQUIRED to vote. Now that being said, Give these two things a read.

Re: What happened to the immigration thread?
I would support Voter ID laws if anyone who is registered to vote but does not already have an acceptable form of ID is issued a Voter ID at zero cost to them. The Supreme Court already ruled in the 1966 decision Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections that poll taxes in all elections – federal, state, and local – were unconstitutional and a requirement to spend money on an ID for the sole purpose of being able to exercise your Constitutional right to vote, is effectively a poll tax.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 11:21 amShe is NOT simply "for amnesty of illegals". Re: What happened to the immigration thread?
I am sure that some money needs to be spent on a border wall in some places and I have no problem with that just as Harris doesn't. What is dumb about the wall was Trump's plan to put the wall across the entire expanse of the border and then claim that it would solve everything.Overlander wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 6:19 pmExactly what I said.twocoach wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:25 amI just sat and watched the video and she absolutely did not say that she now thinks that the border wall is a good idea. The united states requires an ID for almost everything.
Most countries around the world require ID for voting.
So why are democrats so opposed?

"The united states requires an ID for almost everything."
No.
Let's see. Just thinking a few moments to think about the past 24 hours and the next 24 hours....
I didn't/won't need an ID to buy food.
I didn't/won't need an ID to walk on a city street.
I won't need an ID to attend a sporting event.
I didn't need an ID to walk in to the building I work in - nor the building I live in.
I didn't need an ID to buy prescription meds.
I didn't need an ID at a US Post Office to ship a package.
I didn't need an ID to ride a public bus.
I won't need an ID to get a haircut.
I won't need an ID to buy a cup of coffee.
Hopefully you get the picture in regards to my disagreeing with you.
"Most countries around the world require ID for voting".
Is that really true? Maybe. Maybe not?
Supposedly there are 195 countries in the world. There 72 countries listed in the photo that you provided. Soooooooo "most"? Or not "most"?

Now make a list for all the things you DO need an ID for and tell me why voting wouldn't make more sense than most of them

I know how important it is for you to parrot a good Elon Musk tweet.randylahey wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 7:02 pm The united states requires an ID for almost everything.

I know you are not the best and brightest here, BUT Elon is supposed to be a “genius”?
Most of the countries on that list require their citizens to have a “national identity” card of some form…that IS required to shop, travel, have utilities and many other day-to-day activities.
In some of those countries, merely NOT having these cards in your possession can result in arrest.
Are you (through Elon) suggesting that this is the route you want American citizens to go? All of that to make sure a few hundred people don’t get to vote?

Yes, there are multiple things "the United States" (it's often actually not the "United States") requires an ID for. I really don't have a problem with an ID being required for voting. Seems 36 states have laws/rules in which a form of ID is required to vote. I'm actually ok with it.
Most other things that an ID is required for - I don't have a problem with it either.
What I do have a problem with, and what is not ok to me is, when someone who is a legal citizen can not get an ID as easily as you make it out to be, and because of it, can not cast their vote.

Immigrants are the least of us. I will stand with them.
