Fire Grimes Thread
Re: Fire Grimes Thread
Do we not have a screen pass in our playbook?
Re: Fire Grimes Thread
You can't let the defense know your plans. That was an abysmal sequence of events at the end of both halves again. Grimes is a terrible high leverage coordinator. An average one and we are 4-4.
Re: Fire Grimes Thread
I think our receiver was probably held the end of that first half but yes.

Re: Fire Grimes Thread
What's amazing is that our season is abysmal at 2-6 but is a razor's edge from 7-1 with some better playcalling. And that's not counting the TCU game that was well within our chances to win.
As much as this has sucked in the outcome, this team does compete, and still puts out a product worthy of being on the field with the best in the Big 12.
That's maybe what makes the 2-6 record so frustrating - we easily COULD be having the season we envisioned before the year and maybe even one that's better than most of us hoped for.

All of your points are correct, but really it’s a combination of Would have could have should have and the best accumulation of talent in my lifetime.

Yeah, kind of sucks KU is more like FSU than Indiana this season.JayhawkInIowa726 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:37 am What's amazing is that our season is abysmal at 2-6 but is a razor's edge from 7-1 with some better playcalling. If someone told me on October 27th KU would be 2-6, on the way to probably being nothing better than 4-8, and possibly 2-10, I would have bet them a pizza (or more) against it.
Serious question.
Predict Grimes' near term future if these are the choices.
a. He's fired
b. He quits
c. He is gone/leaves "mutually"
d. He's at KU next season
Bonus question
Predict KU Football's record next season

Believe me, I go back and forth between pissed that this season has turned out this way and amazed at the fact just by odds you would expect that about half of these margins would go KU's way yet not a single one has.
That fact does point to the coaching (particularly the offensive side of the football) that we are consistently failing when pressure is on. And in multiple games (definitely Illinois and KSuck) we had the ball with the time and opportunity to get the winning points and never really came anywhere close to doing it.
The results absolutely suck, but at least we're at the point where we deserve to be in these games which missing for 10+ years. Satisfied? No. But trying to keep it in perspective.

Unfortunately, the pessimistic side of me says d. and probably like 3-9 with all the talent we're losing.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:50 amYeah, kind of sucks KU is more like FSU than Indiana this season.JayhawkInIowa726 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:37 am What's amazing is that our season is abysmal at 2-6 but is a razor's edge from 7-1 with some better playcalling. I'm thinking/hoping it could still be c at the end of this season.JayhawkInIowa726 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:55 amUnfortunately, the pessimistic side of me says d. and probably like 3-9 with all the talent we're losing.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:50 amYeah, kind of sucks KU is more like FSU than Indiana this season.JayhawkInIowa726 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:37 am What's amazing is that our season is abysmal at 2-6 but is a razor's edge from 7-1 with some better playcalling. Yeah, I understand this. Expectations for the team, though, were higher to start this year than that season. By a lot.pdub wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 9:54 amNah.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:41 am All of your points are correct, but really it’s a combination of Would have could have should have and the best accumulation of talent in my lifetime.
