LOL
All time leader in assists. In KU history.
And thats not even counting all those assists he accumulated during his redshirt season when he didn't play.

Yes. He's a talented scorer. Unfortunately, watching him, it's a lot of forced shots. Which is why he plays at Grand Canyon and not Kansas or Duke or UNC (or on and on).randylahey wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:20 pmI actually saw one of these player rankings things that had TGF ranked as the best forward in college. Wish he would've stuck around. 6'7 athlete who can should would have fit in lovely. Last year especially when we had no depthpdub wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 9:00 am Ohhhhh boy BDick's not gonna like this:

"37. Dajuan Harris Jr.
Kansas Jayhawks | G | Senior
Harris is back in Lawrence to chase his second national championship. He started 39 of 40 games as a sophomore during the Jayhawks' title-winning campaign, and he has started every game the past two seasons. He's a dogged on-ball defender and a steady playmaker who runs the offense and gets the ball to his teammates in the right spot. Also a capable 3-point shooter if defenses leave him open."
Also ranked:
87. Zeke
69. KJ
31. Storr
4. Hunter
( 41. Tyon Grant Foster )
I am curious to see what type of leap he makes this year. With his heart thing, he's missed some time over the years, and he still may have some untapped potential to show. Hard to say. I'd love to see what he would do against elite competition every single night, but players from small schools have found success in the NBA over the years so maybe he can too.
I do have a hard time seeing his play style fitting in with Bill Self as coach, when you're surrounded by other good players and have to fit into a system rather than doing a lot of iso work against smaller guys, which is a lot of how he is used at GC.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
DH could end up as the all time assist leader in KU history. I think he ends up as 2nd, but regardless.
Think that contributes to only attempting 1.9 3s per game?
And he's been at 2.1 attempts the last 2 years. I expect somewhere close to 3 attempts this year.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
man, these statistical goalposts just keep moving.
But yea, if Dajuan could get to 3+ attempts at the same/almost as good percentage, that'd be big.

Yeah. You aren't wrong about anything you said about tgf. But, 6'7 with length athleticism and shooting ability is valuable anywhere.
Tgf has had an interesting journey for sure. Overcoming the heart issues and being the star of a small school that advanced in the ncaa tournament

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
FWIW Dajuan is currently 4th all time at 676 assists.
current GOAT is Aaron Miles at 954.
So Dajuan would need 278 more, or, if he played 40 games this season, average 6.95 to tie.
Def a possibility.
and FWIW Miles was 3pt career .342 on 2.2 attempts, senior year .500 (!!!) on 2.7 attempts, 105 total made in 4 seasons.

Why are we shitting on dajuan already? He was easily our best player in that meaningless exhibition.
Take it from me... I was very critical of dajuan early in his career. But he is a VERY GOOD college player. Yes I wish he was slightly quicker. But still, he is really good on both sides of the ball. He is not a liability anywhere on the court. There's other players on this roster that are

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
The only player who I came away from the Arkansas game COMPLETELY frustrated with was KJ Adams.
His inability and unwillingness to shoot had Arkansas basically standing a guy in the middle of the lane whenever KJ caught the ball up top.
I thought for sure he'd come into this season willing to shoot from a step behind the free throw line to keep defenses from sagging onto HD.

I think he did get an extra year sans tournament because of Covid though right?DeletedUser wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:20 pm LOL

not that any of his stats are necessarily critical to the argument about whether or not he is valuable and deserving of clock.

Dajuan as is but with KJ as an average/serviceable shooter for a college forward?

you didn't watch basketball when Miles played.BiggDick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:38 pm FWIW Dajuan is currently 4th all time at 676 assists.

You would've hated him and would've been on the boards blasting him. You have benefit of looking back at his stats and how history has been kind and smiled on him. He was an amazing pg,one of the best we've had... but he didn't do the things you find important to meet your criteria for being a good college pg.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
actually, he was a senior my freshman year, when I began to really watch KU hoops in earnest.
I watched the Bucknell meltdown and everything!
As far as roi guards go I remember liking Langford more, if for no other reason than he was a fellow leftist.
ah shit, bad bad way to phrase that...I meant lefty! left-hand dominant! A southpaw!

Is this a serious question?BiggDick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:58 pmwhich do you think would be worth more:DeletedUser wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:52 pm The only player who I came away from the Arkansas game COMPLETELY frustrated with was KJ Adams.

It'd be worth more for KJ to have an outside shot. Dajuan shoots 39% from 3. Kj shoots 0% from 3.
DH career accolades: 3x all big 12 defense and 1x big 12 defensive player of the year.
Kj has never made an all big 12 team.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
yea, serious question.
I been thinking about it ever since that anonymous "writer X" dood said they'd "love to see KJ on a team where the point guard isn't also close to a zero on offense" (and fwiw I think that take on the PG is harsh)
but yea, I dunno if it'd be better to build a lineup with an average-shooting forward and a PG that shoots a good percentage on limited shots, or a non-shooting forward and an elite-shooting PG.
But I do think a non-shooting forward and a limited-shooting PG being paired together is risky, especially in this era of ball, and especially especially for multiple seasons.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
It's just all too convenient, after multiple consecutive years of bitching about his offense, that the morning after DH has an awesome offensive game against a good opponent on the road, that Ousdahl has suddenly had the epiphany that DH is actually overrated at defense.
It's so transparent. He's not nearly as deep or clever as he thinks he is. His antics are quite obvious.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Was the writer suggesting using KJ as a PG? Because I don't think DH shooting 39% from 3 on 1.9 attempts per game is the reason KJ can't score outside of 7ft.
In fact, DH is a huge reason why KJ averaged 10.6 and 12.6 pts the last 2 years despite being a non threat to shoot jumpers from the free throw line or longer.
Have you watched much KU basketball during the last few years? Because a significant portion of KJs baskets are assisted on/created by DH.
