Inflation is down below 2.5% now. And your last part is solely an echo of the claim against Trump and not based in reality. I would bet that Harris, who does a lot of cooking, knows her way around a grocery store just fine.

Well no shit. But before an election, we have no choice but to assume that the policies put forth by candidates will be enacted one way or the other. After reading a few posts on here, I'm left wondering about the future a lot more than I am wondering about today. I wish The Economist could tell me about the next 18 months. I have had some pretty smart people tell me we may be in for a bumpy ride. Regardless of who is elected President. Why would they tell me that? Maybe I should be asking Ben Stein?

Harris brings the known, in a positive way.
Investment in America, through the continuation of several Biden policies…at least are proven to have had a positive impact on the US economy. The CHIPS act, infrastructure investment, and others HELP America.
The isolationist policies of Trump certainly will have immediate negative effects on our economy.
Musk coming out to prepare us for that should be a MASSIVE warning. If he said it, at this point, it will be 10 times worse…minimum.
America First policies are riddled with problems, and the first taste of Trump initiating them brought about a shockwave of negative impact.
Paying farmers billions NOT to farm, interrupting the supply of a viable, low cost workforce…. Buddying up to the Saudis….
The list goes on and on. If anyone needs a singular issue to slam the lid on a Trump economic policy…look no further that gutting our virology and infectious disease research just before the WORST infectious disease breakout in the history of our country.
Do you really want this man child to be the person holding the safety of our country in his hands. When he has proven himself wholly incapable of trust when it matters most?

The answer to your question is no.
I want Trump to be my President less than I want Harris to be my President - but I don't want either to be my President. Who knows? Maybe I will change my mind when I have the ballot in my hand, and I will vote for Kamala. I am 99.999% sure I will not vote for Trump - but there is still that .001% chance I will.

Re: 2024
Come on, Psych, where's your self respect?
I remember when, if you couldn't afford something, you got a second or at times, even a third job, cut back on expenses, and saved your money instead of blaming someone, anyone else, and whining constantly. In fact, now that I think about it, it didn't even occur to us to blame anyone else. We just figured we had to work more or harder, go back to school to work our way up the ladder, and/or save our money.
And, in case you're readying an "inflation" excuse, get back to me when you've gone through it for nearly a decade, because painful tho our recent episode of inflation might have been, it hasn't even lasted a 3rd of that time:
Interest rates in the 1970s were high and volatile, rising from around 7% at the beginning of the decade to over 15% by the end:
Mortgage rates
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage started the decade at around 7.3% in 1971, and peaked at 12.9% by the end of 1979.
Inflation
Inflation in the 1970s was high and volatile, more than doubling to 8.8% in 1973 and reaching 12% later in the decade. By 1980, inflation was at 14%.
The 1970s were marked by stagflation, a period of high inflation and unemployment combined with a stagnant economy. The Iran oil embargo and the Vietnam War contributed to rising crude oil prices and the federal deficit, which significantly impacted the economy.

I don't have a problem with your not voting for one of the two candidates Gutter.
I would hope you would go in and either write in or not fill in anything as more of a statement that you would like to participate in your government but it's not doing a good job representing you.
I'll be voting for Harris b/c I agree with several her policies/thoughts on next steps on her website:
https://kamalaharris.com/a-new-way-forward/
We should have a far far better selection of choices for each and every Presidential election.
This one sucked hard.
