Och and Dick both had 22 points tonight. Both had 5 rebounds. Both had 2 assists. Both had 2 steals.

There is a another one on a pass from Dick that I can't find.

Supposedly this is/was led up to and what caused it.

ESPN
PHILADELPHIA -- Joel Embiid was involved in an altercation with a local columnist in the locker room after the 76ers' 124-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, shouting at him during an exchange of words before eventually shoving him.

"We are aware of reports of an incident in the Sixers locker room this evening and are commencing an investigation," an NBA spokesman said in a statement.

Embiid took issue with a recent column by Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes. In it, Hayes mentioned Embiid's son and late brother -- both named Arthur -- while questioning Embiid's professionalism and effort to stay in shape.

As reporters entered the locker room to talk to players, Embiid stood and confronted Hayes.

"The next time you bring up my dead brother and my son again, you are going to see what I'm going to do to you and I'm going to have to ... live with the consequences," Embiid said to Hayes.

Embiid continued, with several instances of profanity. Hayes offered an apology, which Embiid did not want. "That's not the f---ing first time," Embiid said.

Embiid later said he doesn't care what reporters say. "But you do," Hayes answered.

Embiid appeared to raise his voice at that point and not long afterward pushed Hayes on the shoulder while the team's public relations chief got between them. Another team official moved Tyrese Maxey's interview to the hallway outside the locker room to try to clear reporters from the locker room.

At the same time, a team security person asked reporters not to report on what had happened. Embiid yelled over the security guard.

"They can do whatever they want," Embiid said. "I don't give a s---."

76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey told ESPN's Tim Bontemps that the team was aware of the incident.

"We take the situation very seriously and are investigating, and have already spoken to the NBA," Morey said in a statement.

Embiid didn't play in Saturday's contest, the fifth consecutive game he has sat out to begin the campaign because of left knee injury management. Both he and Paul George, who sustained a bone bruise in his left knee when stepping awkwardly in a preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 14, have yet to play this season for the 76ers (1-4).

Speaking to reporters Friday after practice at the team's facility for the first time in a few weeks, Embiid expressed frustration with the concept that he doesn't want to play.

"Everybody has been on the same page," Embiid said of his recovery plan. "If your body doesn't react well, and if your body tells you one thing [sit out]. I've done it. From what I can tell you, I've broken my face twice; I came back early with the risk of losing my vision. I have broken fingers. I still came back. When I see people say, 'He doesn't want to play,' I've done way too much for this city, putting myself at risk, for people to be saying that."

Embiid had surgery on his left knee after sustaining an injury in January, limiting him to 39 games last season. He then returned in April, playing in Philadelphia's six games of a first-round playoff loss to the New York Knicks, before helping Team USA win gold at the Paris Olympics.

Well, Embiid should have plenty of time to fully recover now. I will be shocked if he doesn't get a lengthy suspension for this.

You can't do that. The press criticizing you is part of the game. It's why you get paid the big bucks.

Yes, you can't do that.
Sort of crazy thing (to me) is, it's easy for me to say because I am not Joel Embiid but I don't feel what Hayes mentioned and said about his brother and son was disrespectful. At all. While the rest of what he said was harsh, seems it struck a nerve with Joel. Is it an example of the truth hurts?
Side note - I do realize injuries and conditioning don't necessarily go hand in hand.

I really didn't find it disrespectful either...but it also didn't need to be included to get the point across.

I think Embiid is sort of a crybaby.

Tough talking a reporter who is probably a foot shorter and 100lbs lighter is a weakass move.

If the quoted section is what was said in the article, there is a fairly strong connection between saying he often says he wants to be great to leave a legacy to brother and son and saying he isn't doing that with poor conditioning and not playing. I can fully understand why he would be upset, and it was not at all necessary to the story. I know he can't react, but that was unnecessary and looking for a reaction journalism. If it didn't cross the line, it was right on the line.

not necessarily related to this latest headline or injury, but re: conditioning, I remember cringing at the reports early in Embiid's career that he liked to drink Shirley Temples by the pitcher.

A lot of athletes eat shitty. A lot of athletes who eat shitty are also work out and conditioning feens/fiends. Joel has a history of fatigue (and poor conditioning?).
Hayes is hardly the only guy to point it out and question him.
I get that Joel was upset Hayes brought his son and brother in to it but Embiid himself has brought his son and brother in to it - saying they are his motivation.

yea.

it's one thing for some average Joe type to chug Shirley Temples before/after they go play pickup ball at the rec center or something.

but for a professional athlete, and an elite MVP-caliber professional athlete in particular, and all the trainers and dietitians and such working with them, you'd think they might give a little more thought to the stuff they consume.

Speaking of thought and stuff they consume....
Most probably give very little thought in to the weed they consume.

leave Japhy outta this!

for real tho, I haven't consumed any cannabis in several weeks. And when I was last consuming, it was hardly an every day thing at that. I finally got burned out during covid lockdown, and just haven't been that into it since. Every now and then I'll miss it, but as a whole, it's kinda surprising how little I think about it. Guess I'm just naturally this dopey.

...why, you got any?!
