Re: 2024
the insinuation that anyone should just tolerate bigotry, and that intolerance is equated to the bigotry itself, is…odd, to say the least
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: 2024
Oh, that message has long been communicated loud and clear.

It's how I'm wired. Just like with Overlander, the bully doesn't get the last word as long as I have any say in the matter.
At some point, you'll permaban me, and that's your prerogative as the owner of the bar. Until then, the contempt and dismissiveness just fuels the fire.

Just letting it known, in the foreseeable future, i'm not going to let unreliable/unsourced info be spewed onto the site.
I'm just tired of it.
I'll be bouncing from the poli-bored pretty soon but posters here can be free to flag a post if it is clearly attempting to be poised as a factual statement ( particularly since media embeds are back on the table - so trashy twitter posts are probably the biggest culprit here ) but has the complete opposite of validity - i.e. a conspiracy or a total lie.
If that type of posting continues to happen, then you will be breaking our newer up-to-date bored rules, and you'll get to go to timeout and then, eventually, lobster'd.

I suppose so. I lean "fucked".
I mentioned too frequently on here than I didn't want to vote for Harris or Trump.
I ended up voting for Harris. Well, not really for Harris. For Harris' potential cabinet. That's what I used to convince myself to vote for her. Probably was only fooling myself in doing that. Who was she going to surround herself with? I just felt safer with her potential choices than I will inevitably feel with Trump's choices.
I can't help but wonder how many people didn't vote for Trump but voted for his potential cabinet. 1%? Can't be enough to have made the difference in the results. Right? I don't know if I hope I am right or wrong, but I do know I can't for the life of me figure out why people like Donald Trump as a person.
I know a lot of people who voted for Trump, and not one of them like him or think he is a good person. All of them, however, knew several people who were loud and proud in calling them rubes, morans, and bigots and saw multitudes more in the media doing the same. They all - without exception - took great satisfaction in casting their vote for Trump as a middle finger right back at the people disparaging them.
Your side already had the economy going against you. You added a weak candidate and the condescending tone, and all of that together sealed your fate.
Trumps team.... once again, tapped into the depths of the minds of people that many of us don't give much thought to.
Young men were a huge vote for Trump- They got tired of their masculinity being challenged. They were fed up with not having the equal to or better than life of the fathers and grandfathers. They are the perfect catch for a trap set with hatred of others, even if that "hatred" isn't really who they are, they got tired of being told that they were hateful.
Latinos turned out in huge numbers for Trump- many of them have a distaste for incoming immigrants. And Trump's team did a great job of creating a "it isn't YOU...it's THEM" line between illegal and legal immigrants. Also, keep in mind that for many from South American countries, going against the perceived power could literally cost you your LIFE. Don't think that isn't in their minds, I know for a fact that it is.
Trump's team painted a picture that constantly reminded you just how bad everything is. He turned the amp to 11 on just how fucked up this country is. They set up perfectly a scenario where they don't need any solutions, but the fact that Trump even exists is cold comfort for them.
You wanna blame someone, blame Steve Bannon. He set this entire movement up perfectly.

Oh, I agree that the general message from some of the left isn't great ( mEn ArE bAD!!! ) and I can see why/where the anger lies in American males.
But you aren't a moran for feeling that way.
You're a moran for voting for Trump who gives zero shits about any of you.
You got used.

It's not like there were multiple choices. It was binary: vote for the candidate put forth by people who actively hate and disparage you or vote for the other guy.pdub wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 11:45 am Oh, I agree that the general message from some of the left isn't great ( mEn ArE bAD!!! ) and I can see why/where the anger lies in American males.
