When reality and facts sound like "condescending hubris" you are lost in an alternative reality.

A lot of people are pretty tired of the whining snowflakes on the right and the left. After trumpty plumpty and his acolytes turn on the defrost mode, you will get a taste of reality reality.

The 2024 and America Failed threads are a bunch of fucking embarrassing dreck.
So much so that I am this/close to banning myself from reading ALL threads/posts on the Poli bored.

Maybe the question to ask is, if the economy really is so great, then how come so many voters didn’t think so anyway?

If it’s a matter of messaging and information and media wars or whatever, then what’s the dem plan to stop loosing that war so badly?
If Trump and his social media cohorts tell all the MAGAs they have eleven fingers, there isn't an anatomical chart in the world that would change their minds. They don't care about any data outside of their milieu.
This. After all, they fell for the "sharpie on the map" ruse.

You could also blame dirty sneaky foreigners.

And when all else fails, it's the deep state and WEF.

Good point!

I had a big long post the gist of which was maybe Trump’s promises were actually full of shit all along, but ended up having one sentence from that post cherry picked to get us all off topic anyway, go figure.

This thought might be admittedly a little off topic too, but, I’ll try to phrase it in a way that maybe it IS on topic anyway…

While I certainly agree with the take that MAGAs will believe whatever Trump and his social media cohorts tell them, I’m more concerned by the shift of voters outside the MAGAsphere who went for Trump’s promises anyway.

Looks like we’re up to as many as five House Rs being tabbed for cabinet or other appointments.

There will be openings here where the big guy’s arrogance and incompetence - here, possibly failing to understand the broader results of the election - gives Ds something to work with.

interesting that he’s pushing for recess appointments even though he’s going to have the house and senate

who’s he trying to push through?

No one good! It’s also an exercise and show authority as much as anything else.

And it’s certainly the first big test for the media - stripping the Senate of its role in confirming nominees is uncut, black and white authoritarianism.

You don't get it, many of us are Americans first.

Dem is just a transactional association at this point. Parties change and people change association. We are not the Party, we are people.

This, checking to see if anyone tries to enforce the guardrails.

Republican office holders in general being cowards where trumpty plumpty is concerned, they will not.

I'm saying I don't fucking care.

I hope the unrealistic trump voters learn something from this. And I hope that unrealistic "progressives" learn something from this.

But I am not holding my breath waiting. I have actual real things to do. It will all happen regardless of the death twitches of party politics.

I don't think "progressive" is unrealistic. In pretty much any other country, the Democratic Party would be considered right-wing. And in pretty much any other country, they have championed "progressive" ideals. America is comparatively lagging.

I hope the even more unrealistic yet "establishment centrists" learn something from this.

but I too am not holding my breath waiting.

I wouldn’t completely give up on this idea. The key is to see it through though.

What I have learned is that people are easily fooled into believing what they want to believe and that the largest issue facing us is an Information Security problem in that adversarial foreign governments are able to easily inject incorrect information into our society and fool people who put little effort into knowing what is happening with each candidate.

Spare me with the whole "Dems aren't hearing the grievances of Republicans" bullshit.
