Mayo didn't score tonight, but 10 rebounds and 7 assists. And guarded Akins a lot. Akins had 2 points, 1 assist and no rebounds.
He was terrific
Learning how to impact the game even when his shot isn't falling. Thats important.
Zeke was great.
Griffen I think played well other than a couple mental lapses
Storr, I think will be good, but he's in his own head right now.

dammit, that wasn't close. For some reason I thought I had something like76 68 but I think that was my original guess and I do know I changed it this morning.

I'm dumb.
You're not dumb.
If KU made one more 3, two more 2s, and 1 more free throw, and MSU mades one more 3 and one more free throw - you're a genius.

all the starters played at least 32 minutes each. Not nearly as much out of our bench, but weird ugly game, not sweating it yet.
Hunter doing POY things.
Zeke prob starts for the foreseeable future. Didn't score much but led in assists and double digit boards.
Good to see Juan in double digits again, plus 7-7 from the line
For Flory to have played 12 minutes in a high-profile early season game like this, as a true freshy big, at both frontcourt spots, seems to project well
Storr fouled out in 12 minutes, bummer. He'll figure it out
No one but Hunter could score in the first half.
Pretty ugly ball.
Zeke seems like he can spell Dajuan at point.
KJ was out of sorts.
Flory got the 'oh he's a freshman big so he must be fouling' treatment from the refs. Had some monster dunks.
I wish Hunter would not do stupid celebrations every single time he scored.
Storr I hope was just frustrated with himself/the officials and not with Bill Self.

this, quite possibly, is the worst
i’m going to start celebrating every time i do things i'm supposed to do as part of my job…and excessively so when i do it with my off hand

All the Hunter Dickinson haters can kiss my ass.
He’s a stud on offense.
He’s also super annoying.
He makes it so hard to be excited about.
He has been great this year so far though, but boy is it like chewing nails to cheer for him.
Is it possible Hunter's just young, and a bit socially awkward?
He's literally been the center of attention everywhere he goes for most of his life, because he's so incredibly tall. Maybe I'm only making excuses for him, but also, maybe that's difficult for him?
Note: I was in some little storefront on Mass St. in Lawrence years ago, that only had a counter and a few chairs crammed into a really small space. Chenowith walked in, and it was like a physical effort not to tilt your head and look up at him. He was so big and present, he was impossible to ignore.
Just giving Hunter the benefit of the doubt.

We've had hundreds of young players come through Kansas under Bill Self and very few have acted like he has.
Christian Braun did the same times ten every game.
If you recall, I could not STAND Braun his freshman year.
He calmed down his last 2 seasons but yes, he also annoyed me quite a bit.
Braun also got the benefit of the doubt because he was a Kansan who chose Kansas immediately - as opposed to givemeanothersickgoldchain Hunter who outright admitted he chose Kansas because of NIL dollars.

i had a similar run-in with Ostertag back in the early 90s, but at a gas station (23rd and Haskell). i swear he was literally twice the height of his lady that was with him
i was in my early teens, so was obviously star-struck and blown away

I mostly just dont enjoy watching him play because he is not fun. I prefer centers like Dok or Bidunga who fly and dunk and swat shots. HD is lumbering and floats around the perimeter too much so I end up yelling at him a lot. But I respect his talents and appreciate the hard work he puts in. He isn't my favorite player to watch but this team has a lot of fun players around him to cheer for. I just hope they don't turn into Dedric Lawson's teammates and get caught standing around watching because they assume the ball will get fed to him over and over.
There used to be an annual haunted maze at the 4H fairgrounds.
( I actually was in it a couple years as it counted as community service for Boy Scouts )
But when I was a kid, I went to said haunted maze, and Ostertag was a swamp monster that lived under a bridge you had to cross. He picked me up. It ruled.
With last night's win and Duke's loss, Kansas now sits alone atop the Champions Classic standings with a 9-5 record. Duke is at 8-6, Kentucky at 6-8 and Michigan State at 5-9. After starting out 1-4 in the event, Kansas has now won 5 straight and 8 of the last 9.

Not sure why, and I don't mean this as an insult, but I assumed you were older.
If the Big O was a swamp monster, and picked me up (with a toothless grin?), in a haunted maze, it would probably be one of the highlights of my young Jayhawk fandom. I sincerely mean that.
Is it bad that I am jealous?
