What music does everyone listen to?
Re: What music does everyone listen to?
Changing the subject a tad….
I think it’s kinda lame that Travis Barker married one of the Kardashians.
There’s just not much that’s LESS punk rock than that.
But if they’re really in love or whatever, guess I won’t begrudge

Daft Punk's Tron Legacy still holds up - bangs/slaps.

RIP Quincy Jones
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

soo
if you were like, a brewery or a small festival promoter or whatever - or better yet - a brewery patron or a small festival goer - what sorta tribute act would you be most inclined to check out?
Particularly a tribute that leverages millennial sentiments.
My bass player friend says grunge is in the midst of a sort of revival among the folks. I'm down for some sorta grunge tribute bro! But then, he he says he'd rather get on the leading edge of the next revival trend and bank on nu-metal.
Um, ok? What sort of nu-metal you going for bro? I guess I'm open to it, but I dunno if it has quite the broad appeal. I mean, grunge was all over 96.5 The Buzz, which was comparatively more of an everyman's station. Nu-metal was pretty much confined to 98.9 The Rock, and its Camaro-driving listeners.
And grunge is just less of a commitment. You can totally nail the grunge look with a $6 goodwill shopping spree. With nu-metal, you're pretty much gonna have to go to the mall and drop some serious coin at Hot Topic, not to mention stopping by Lids 4 Less to get that crisp red Yankees hat.

Re: What music does everyone listen to?
but yea. so tribute acts!
I went on a date with a bumble babe who said the last date she went on was bragging out how he was starting a 311 cover band. She said this in a ranting tone, but my response was...wait can I get that dood's number?
I also really like the idea of a Presidents of the United States tribute. They had just enough hits for the folks to recognize, and just enough other catchy tunes to make for a fun set at a festival. We'd call ourselves the Vice Presidents, or maybe the Speakers of the House.
Or, even more broadly than millennial sentiments, is rocking the classics of Classic Rock. I'd like to start a ZZ Top tribute, and would be willing to go so far as to grow my beard for no fewer than 2 years to do so.

New President - New Gutter. I am going to pledge my allegiance to Donald J. Trump and for the next 4 years I am going to be an even bigger asshole than I already am.

Re: What music does everyone listen to?
My choices to see perform live next month/early January.
This is a 31.5/68.5 chance = a maybe but probably not.
Atomic Punks Dec 29th at Whisky
This is a 92.5/7.5 chance = only thing holding me back is the Rose Bowl the next day so I don't know if I want/need to be out late.
I have a ticket - and I'm a big fan of Keinemusik
Rampa NYE at Red Studios
This is a 98.5/1.5 chance = I am fully expecting to go.
I have a ticket - I'm a big fan. Best I can get of 3 worlds.
Pink Talking Fish Jan 3rd at Troubadour

I've seen Pink Talking Phish. "Best of 3 worlds" is a good take. They're a lot of fun.

That's an option. My guess is I skip one if not two of my choices.TDub wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 6:22 pmid just stay home and listen to something else.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 7:19 am My choices to see perform live next month/early January.

I'm sitting here watching the CFP show and thinking to myself that the Rose Bowl would be great if the season ended today. Problem is it doesn't and it's inevitable I'll be stuck with a shit game. Which might have a bearing on my NYE plans.
