Our Bend location is doing a customer appreciation event tonight.
Is it wrong that I was hoping for an "all-hell breaking loose epic winter storm"?

To be clear, I am cool with the epic winter storm. Nothing quite as fun as going places most others can't. First successful tracks of the day is like a great hunting trip for me!

Blizzard conditions in Chicago yesterday. Really bad near the lake. Not as bad away from the lake but still bad at times in different places around the city.
My sister was supposed to fly in. Decided to change her flight and come in today. I checked and her flight yesterday was delayed. Landed an hour and 14 minutes late. Took another 40 minutes to get to the gate once it landed.
An hour and 54 minutes was not too bad considering the conditions.
Heck, I wouldn't have been surprised if they had ground halts at O'Hare yesterday.
Her flight today isn't supposed to take off for another 4 hours but as of right now it's supposed to take off on time. If it was me, I have little doubt I would get GUTTERED and it would be delayed (or cancelled) worse than yesterday's flight.

There are a lot of terrible things in the world.
When it is happening to me, having my flight being delayed due to weather issues, and sitting in an airport not knowing if/when it will take off or if it will be canceled, and my not being a drinker so sitting in a bar having drinks while I wait isn't an option, is near the top of the list of terrible things.
Add being with my elderly mother when it's happening (as it did back in March) and it's pretty much right at the top of the list.

This is one of many reasons I avoid flying if at all possible. The only thing worse thank being stuck in an airport is being stuck in an airplane on the tarmac.

Got 2-3 inches in my neck of the woods yesterday morning...and my mental back-of-the-napkin math counted at least a half million bucks' worth of needlessly, hilariously large pickup truck stuck on the side of the road, just on my short drive to the grocery store yesterday.

I imagine they had those cool 35” offset wheels with 44” tires?

Absolutely the WORST type of tire for bad weather conditions
