Thank you Bill. I agree. I think we've looked good with HD and Bidunga out there. Pros and cons to anything obviously. Big it gives teams a different look to deal with and makes us huge inside.

yea.

And it gives us more of a traditional forward sort of piece on both ends - paint scoring, boreds, rim protection.

Limited sample size for stats, but he's averaging the same PPG and more rebounds and blocks in less than half the minutes of our starter KJ.

KJ still does a lot of good things for us, don't get me wrong. But he's also still kind of an awkward tweener double-edged-sword of a piece to have. And kinda starting to drink some of my KU roommate buddy's KJ hater koolaid, tho hater is too strong a term.

Cuz the other option is AJ at the 4, which gives us shooting and scoring.

Again, not to completely hate on KJ. I think he should still start and play a bunch. But, if what we're doing with KJ playing a bunch isn't working, then it's at least nice to have options.

Might seem silly, but we are a little spoiled to have a guy like clemence not playing. An emergency big who's been here for 4 years. He hasn't shown much confidence in games but he's better that he's appeared, in the bad scenario of an injury or major foul trouble

For sure. He's no Mitch Lightfoot, but he's decent for an emergency big.

Good luck selling "he's better than he's played in his 48 games and 250+ minutes".

At some point, we have to recognize that some guys are career practice bodies and that Clemence is one of those. If we get to the end of the game all we have all our white bench guys on the floor together then yes, I think that Clemence is our best scoring option. He isn't going to ever be much more than what he is now.

He's way too small in my opinion. No interior defense. No defensive rebounding. And he's not exactly great when it comes to ball movement and offensive continuity with the other players.

I don't think we need to force him out there for extra minutes out of position.

Also, I think HD and KJ make Bidunga better when they're out there with him due to their passing and experience within the offense, and AJ does the exact opposite. He is good at the iso thing, but he does not make the players around him better yet. AJ might be the worst passer on the team.

I think AJ will be a totally different player next year within the offense (if he stays). It takes time to learn how to pick your spots.

7th team in 7 seasons if you go back further. Hopefully that string ends next season.

I liked the four out offense when Self did that yesterday. Was it Harris/Coit/Griffin/Storr/Hunter? Something like that.
I also like getting Bidunga more minutes than just backing up the five for the same reason as Bill - he's just too good to play so few minutes.
But KJ gives us plenty as well, of course.

I like the idea of all them playing somewhere in the 18-28 minute range. Mix things up, keep the other team confused.

Still waiting for the shooters to start hitting their last years percentage from 3. Guess Timberlake made me skeptical of previous year's shooting percentage.

Same.

Especially because there isn't much separation between Coit Storr and Griffen in my opinion. Obviously, Zeke has taken hold of his spot and appears to be the best of the newcomers.

The wild thing about timberlake is what a large sample size of data his percentages were from.

Compare it to Grady dick, who played his season at KU same year as timberlakes last season with Towson. We all know Grady was prolific, but timberlake hit more 3s at a slightly higher percentage

But then came here, sucked on defense, which made him struggle to find a role and stress hitting shots, and lead to broken confidence.

None of the newcomers appear to be heading towards broken confidence. Maybe clemence tho

His best minutes probably came as a freshman, just simply because he was checking in and hitting shots. Still playing with confidence

I was surprised to see he only made 15 shots his entire freshman season.

He's only made 28 shots for his career.

Ouch.

Who knows. I certainly didn't think guys like Lightfoot, McCormack and Lucas would end up being as good as they were. Who knows, maybe he gets his nutrition dialed in, gets some functional muscle mass on his ass and figures some things out. I certainly hope it happens and then some. Whatever gets KU more wins. Go Clemence!

well played
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Depressing, but true.
