I wonder how many in Congress are without sin.

In terms of my accusation about you, if you would have a problem with it if he is/was found guilty of it in a court of law, then I stand corrected and apologize.JKLivin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 1:59 pmYou left out a key word that relates to due process under the law, there, O.J. JFC! You really can't make this shit up.
Until that were to happen, you are correct, it is just an accusation about him.
So....
This becomes a somewhat complicated moral question - Are you cool with someone being accused of having sex with a minor - or multiple minors - being appointed Attorney General of the USA until he/she was found guilty or innocent in a court of law?
I have mixed feelings for different reasons.
Moving on, I happen to feel if he is truly innocent, then it's a really shitty thing that he is being forced to go through. If he's guilty, I hope he faces the consequences and serves whatever punishment is handed to him.

I don't believe a single human adult is without sin.
I do believe IF you break a law you should suffer the legal consequences.
Some people choose to hold politicians to high standards. Seems a whole lot of politicians feel they are above any standards. Way too many are piece of shit human beings. Gaetz being one of them. Regardless if he had sex with minors or not.

I would, of course, have a problem, we’re either charged or convicted. Accusations, however, are always conveniently brought against conservative nominees in an attempt to get them to step aside out of fear of being embarrassed. Gaetz is a tool, and I’m not sorry to see him gone, but playing these kinds of games with peoples’ lives and reputations is pretty low, IMHO.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 2:39 pmIn terms of my accusation about you, if you would have a problem with it if he is/was found guilty of it in a court of law, then I stand corrected and apologize.JKLivin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 1:59 pmYou left out a key word that relates to due process under the law, there, O.J. Serious question. Has he been charged with anything? Bill Clinton has been accused on myriad such things, and he seems to be in good stead with your party. What’s the difference?Overlander wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 2:51 pmNice try.

Just minutes after Gaetz announced that he is withdrawing from consideration to be Trump’s attorney general, CNN published a scoop regarding a reported second sexual encounter the Florida Republican had with a 17-year-old girl at a party.
It was previously known that a woman testified to the House Ethics Committee that Gaetz had sex with her when she was a minor. Sources familiar with the woman’s testimony told CNN that the woman spoke of two sexual encounters she had with the then-congressman at one party in 2017.
According to CNN’s Paula Reid, the network reached out to Gaetz for comment on the story, telling Trump’s pick for attorney general that the scoop would publish at 12:30 p.m. ET. Gaetz posted his statement announcing his withdrawal from consideration six minutes earlier. He has previously denied having sex with a minor.

If he isn’t charged, it never happened.
If he is charged, even tried, even convicted (Trump) it is written off as a DOJ out of control. Don’t let the fact that a STATE court convicted DJT in a JURY trial.
How do you reconcile being a “Christian “ with your acceptance of molesters, rapists, sexual predators and bigots?

pam bondi, come on down…
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Butthead Withdraws Prematurely
I'm sure if they would have just released the report, Butthead would be fully exonerated.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Butthead Withdraws Prematurely
I guess I reconcile it by being a person who looks at things on a case-by-case basis; who is intelligent enough to see that lawfare and justice are not one and the same, and that wanting enforcement of immigration laws for the sake of my well-being and that of my children is not the same as wanton bigotry; who understands that there are times when the system forces us to choose between two people, neither of whom is a great choice, but that one is clearly better for my future and that of my children than the other.Overlander wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 4:36 pmI see. I wish the world were the binary proposition you seem to believe it to be, but, in my experience, it is not.

I’ve already said that I think Gaetz - like MTG and Lauren Boebert - is a bad person, and that I disagreed with his nomination. My guess is that it was a troll job and Trump knew it would blow up. It’s a silly political game.

This is for appointmwnt for US Attorney General, one of the most important jobs in our government. It's not an argument over two people speaking at rallies for a nominee.JKLivin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 3:00 pmSerious question. Has he been charged with anything? Did Biden nominate Bill Clinton for Attorney General? No. Even though Clinton is 1000% more qualified for the position than Gaetz, I would have been against it if Clinton was nominated.

Gaetz was a troll job. The real nominee is a woman at least, although I’m sure you’ll hate her, too.twocoach wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 7:04 pmThis is for appointmwnt for US Attorney General, one of the most important jobs in our government. I certainly thank Trump for removing Gaetz from Congress. That's a win for America. Can he troll us more and get MTG, Boebert, Tuberville and Ted Cruz to resign, too?JKLivin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 7:14 pmGaetz was a troll job.
