400 year old LeBron James is shooting a career high 3pt fg% this season. Just crazy.

Gutter's 5 worthless thoughts for 11/21/24

1. If someone told me a team that would be starting Lindy Waters III and Trayce Jackson Davis for multiple games would be 11-3, I would tell them they are nuts.

2. If someone told me the Cleveland Cavs would be 16-1, I would tell them they are nuts.

3. Before the season started, if someone told me that on 11/21/24 the Magic would be in the 4th spot, the Pistons would be in the 6th spot, the Bucks would be in the 10th spot, and the 76ers would be in the 15th spot, I would tell them they are nuts.

4. There are only 6 teams that are more than 3 games over .500.
There are only 7 teams who are more than 3 games under .500
If the regular season ended today, the 6ers would not be in the playoffs and the Mavs would not be in the playoffs. What odds could/would I have gotten on that before the season started?

5. Either one or two games in to the season I bet a two team final record parlay to pay +234
Warriors > 43.5
Lakers > 42.5
Warriors are currently 11-3
Lakers are currently 10-4
I wish there was a way I could bet that I will get GUTTERED

The simple answer. Many fans just don't like the players or play style anymore

The players, particularly the stars, are a big group of spoiled, entitled, whiny, pompous, overpaid, sensitive little crybabies who are out of touch with reality. They can't relate to the average American anymore.

The effort level on a nightly basis is too low. The defense sucks. The ball movement sucks. There's too much isolation basketball and chucking up of bad shots. A lot of star players are not very coachable. There is no reason the best players in the world should be giving us the worst version of basketball.

I'm a big nba fan, and I refuse to watch regular season games. Nba playoffs feel like a different sport than regular season

I think the good teams play hard almost every night. Sure, it's fall/winter, so teams have guys sick. And the schedule is crazy with the back to backs and what not. But as someone who watches a lot of NBA, I don't see the lack of effort narrative being all that true on the team level. Maybe on some more select indivudal level. Obviously, there are exceptions.

As I said to multiple co-workers yesterday after one of them said someone else is crazy - "Everybody is crazy, just to different degrees". Is that not true?
Or did you mean "isn't right" in regard/s to his physical well being? If so, I would probably agree and I might respond, "Everybody has physical ailments, just to different degrees". ;)

I agree. We know about physically but it sure seems mentally too.
Dude is only 30 and it seems he's sick and tired of being an NBA player right now. For multiple legitimate reasons.
But hey, stay tuned and TTP!

It's obviously subjective, but I think teams like Boston Cleveland OKC Denver Golden State Lakers etc have teams that play hard almost every night.

I am just not seeing a total lack of effort from those teams very often. At least not from the vast majority of players on those teams.

I watch a lot of the Celtics.

Plays are absolutely taken off.

No, of course there aren't teams with zero effort for a whole game.
They wouldn't have jobs.

But it's just so noticeable when you get to the playoffs - the effort there vs the effort vs the Washington Wizards on a Wednesday night in December.

It's still early.
As I have said, I watched an OKC Thunder team play a half assed game against the Bools their 2nd game of the season and still beat the shit out of the Bools. Beat them by 19. Could have been a lot more.

On a semi related note, did you see the other night they (the Thunder) jacked up 53 3 pointers and the Spurs jacked up 46?

Plays, yes. Games, not so much.

But that's true for players and teams at every level.
