Re: trump’s promises
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: trump’s promises
Good.
Re: trump’s promises
Feels like they are dragging their feet until they get their claws into the FBI and ensure those reviews of nominees are no longer needed. Zero chance some of them would make it through that process without utter humiliation or criminal charges. They're going to try to put it in the hands of their Supreme Court.

Serious question for you and/or anyone else who would care to answer it.twocoach wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:51 pmFeels like they are dragging their feet until they get their claws into the FBI and ensure those reviews of nominees are no longer needed. If you were to go through a FBI investigation, would there be anything you would be more than just slightly embarrassed about if it came out in public?
Reason why I am asking is that I fully believe there are probably some outstanding people to fill potential political positions/roles who don't bother to get involved because they have a skeleton or 3 that they don't want exposed.
My saying that in no way is trying to exonerate any nominee who may be investigated but it is saying it leaves some really slim pickings in regards to people who have nothing or very little to be embarrassed about.
Life is one giant Gutterism.

I think that is right. But I also think the Ds need to MAKE them do these things.twocoach wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:51 pmFeels like they are dragging their feet until they get their claws into the FBI and ensure those reviews of nominees are no longer needed. there’s also rumblings about just who is paying for the transition right now, since taxpayers can’t pay until all the MOUs are signedjfish26 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 6:27 amI think that is right. Re: trump’s promises
Doesn’t really matter. It’s just going on Trump’s tab with whatever donor wants to front the costs. It’ll all be paid back with interest in the form of preferential treatment on tariff exemptions.KUTradition wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:28 amthere’s also rumblings about just who is paying for the transition right now, since taxpayers can’t pay until all the MOUs are signedjfish26 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 6:27 amI think that is right. Special counsel Jack Smith is dropping the federal election subversion and the mishandling of classified documents cases against President-elect Donald Trump, seeking the cases’ dismissal in court filings Monday.
Trump has said he would fire Smith once he retook the office, shattering previous norms around special counsel investigations.
“The (Justice) Department’s position is that the Constitution requires that this case be dismissed before the defendant is inaugurated,” Smith wrote in a six-page filing with the US District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan in Washington, DC, regarding the election subversion case. “This outcome is not based on the merits or strength of the case against the defendant.”
Once again, Trump is allowed to break the law with no consequences.

I'll reserve judgment on this one until I see what the DOJ does with the report Smith prepares.twocoach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 1:06 pm https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/25/politics ... index.html

25% tariffs on Canada?
welp, lumber and steel prices are fucked.
Sure is a dagger for contractors......and clients...and homeowners....and...everyone.
Seriously though, that will destroy my industry.

Re: trump’s promises
You remember that Big Beautiful Wall (TM) (fine print: which Mexico paid for)? The same thing is going to happen to tariffs.
The MAGA bought the sizzle. There are enough entrenched interests that will ensure that neither the tariffs nor the deportations will materialize. They’re already pushing and shoving to be exempted.
Of course, the rubiverse got what they wanted. It’s wait and see on whether they end up realizing the consequences.
