Anyway, as a general matter, don't do what I did a few Halloweens ago, where I made a boozy warm apple cider, only to inadvertently cook off all of the booze.
I vividly remember wondering, with the other dad involved, how exactly we'd downed what amounted to a bottle and half of liquor without feeling even the slightest bit tipsy.

Dry red wine.
Splash of apple cider.
Brandy.
All spice.
Bit of nutmeg.
Cloves.
Cinnamon stick.

I got this spice pack with chunks of spices in it - orange peel, allspice, cinnamon, anise, cloves.
Seem straight forward enough. But then I read and it says to mix it with 1 GALLON of wine.

It's good advice, don't get me wrong. And no doubt, I'll enjoy some Coorses too.
But there's only a couple holidays a year it's customary to drink warm spiced spiked wine. I'm trying to get festive here.
Plus, I like the variety. While Coors is good every day of the year, it's not like anyone wants to drink warm spiced spiked wine on the 4th of July.
Besides, it'll be stronger than Coorses, assuming I don't pull a fish and cook it all away...gonna put it in a slow cooker til it's just hot enough to taste "hot," and also get the spice flavors going. Gonna try to not even let it bubble.
Might just do old fashioneds also/instead cuz that taste too reminds me of holidays, plus it's even more efficient yet.

When I do mulled wine I add a few strips of orange zest (usually fresh, because I can just walk outside and pick one) to essentially the ingredients above. Dried peels can also work but I usually don’t have any around
