Ochai hit a wall for sure. But this team was running a lot of Freshmen. This team had a ton of trouble outside of Lawrence due to inexperience

Chai will improve a lot I expect.
I think he could end up on an all B12 team at the end of next season.

He came in crashing offensive glass, communicating on D, being disruptive on D, and shooting confidently.

This isn't the first time Bill has caused this. He just ruins some guys. I don't know if this one is reversible.
Wut?
Giddens, Selden, Julian, Henry and Rush to an extent, list goes on. Wings that have a lot of creativity and energy get it sapped after a year with Self. Some guys adapt and learn how to basically sit back and shoot threes like Rush and Selden. Others can't recover.

Giddens and Rush alude to it in Beyond the Phog. It's very apparent. It's taking all of the good out of Ochai.

Most realistic best scenario:

We don't get punished by the NCAA any further.
We still get Hurt despite Duke and UNC going after him.
Dedric declares. So does Dok. DeSousa is gone. Charlie transfers when he realizes the two freshmen recruits will both get more time than he does.
We get a senior transfer from some mid major for depth.
Everyone else comes back.
We win the B12 again.

Best best scenario:

All of the above except Dok comes back.
We are the number 1 overall seed.

I’ve always believed that wing players ultimately disappoint at KU. Wiggins, Oubre, Selden, Selby, and now Grimes. Some of that is on the players but as fickle as 18 yr old kids are if you are a top 5 wing and you have offers from KU, Kentucky, UNC and Duke I can tell you one place for sure I wouldn’t be going.

Honestly Dok needs another year. He needs to work on his shot. Dedric needs to stay to make it; not sure he understands that. He is a late second rd guy who needs more Hudy

If we are talking post season success then sure, Wiggins disappointed.
Other than that, no, he didn't.
Josh was a wing ( though he got moved around b/c of Preston and DeSousa ) - he didn't disappoint.

Udoka is still young and raw.
Dedric is 2 years older - he needs to go after putting up the numbers he did this season.

Grimes is inconsistent.
But you can see the talent there.
I like the kid - the three freshmen guards will come back with senior Garrett.

With the recruits, I think our backcourt will be pretty clutch.

Grimes was a massive disappointment.

Wiggins was great, not sure how anyone would think he wasn't. He was hyped like he was LeBron but was not bad at all. Selden and Oubre were freshman guards who had their moments.

I'm guessing Dedric and Dok leave. I wouldn't be surprised to see KJ graduate-transfer, perhaps to play with his brother at Oregon. I assume SDS's appeal won't work. So that leaves us with
Dotson
Grimes
Agbaji
Garrett
McCormack

and Lightfoot and Moore coming off the bench. I have a hard time seeing the current signees making much of an impact as Freshmen.

Need some miracle spring recruits here.

Nice trolling attempt.
Umm... what?...we're losing our 2 best players most likely (Dedric and Dok). Don't have a big time recruiting class at the moment. Scoring will still be a weakness with the lineup we currently project to roll out. I'm not overly optimistic about next year at the moment. We need to land 2 or 3 good to great players still.

This is where im at too. It's not a great place to be. Likely going to be another frustrating, not as enjoyable year as we are accustomed too.

I DO look forward to watching Dotson become a real leader though. Dude has it in him.

I don’t get the KJ grad transfer thing. He’s getting minutes.

Yea true, I kinda ignored that aspect of the quoted comment because I really dont care about what happens with KJ. If we are counting on KJ our season is going to be more challenged than this one was.

KJ seems like he'll have the role he had in Big 12 tourney/NCAA tourney this season.

KJ went from 33+ mpg to 9.9. He went from 12 and 8 to 3 and 2. And as you say, his role won't be that much different. He can transfer without having to sit. I would be surprised if he stays.

To lower ball? I don’t see the point of coming here in the first place then. Looks to me he’s a role player even at a mid-major. Might as well stick it out here.

And the grad transfer thing is entirely an assumption that he’s a year ahead on his studies.

KJ is honestly pretty terrible. If him and Moore decide to go to UMKC or Emporia state it wouldn't hurt our chances
