No. 20 Texas A&M

damn, aren't we about to play Creighton too?

was hoping they'd be ranked high as possible for our matchup.

Tis the season. Preseason rankings are even more meaningless now that the teams change so much year to year.

What a team is ranked when you play them means nothing. I would hope KU was long past "we beat #12!".

What the teams you beat are seeded in the tourney at the end of the year is what matters.

And every year, writers and coaches get worse and worse at preseason rankings and predictions.

Or the combination of the transfer rules and the extra COVID year make it harder

I liked him a lot until this season. Now, he's becoming a bit too much of a whiner for me.

UConn men's basketball team ends three-game skid with easy win over lowly Maryland Eastern Shore

...In Maui, UConn lost to Memphis, Colorado and Dayton, falling to 4-3. Given the national championship runs in 2023 and 2024, and the dominant way they played out, failure to that level on a little island's national stage caught all sorts of overwhelming attention, from the final scores to the way Hurley ranted and raved and generally went bonkers on the sideline. It was a wild 125 minutes of basketball over three days...

I am of the opinion that most preseason rankings and predictions have sucked for well over a decade. Coaches seem to just have some random underling do it for them and writers seem to just look at the previous seasons standings, penalize for losing people if no big name additions were made and ignore losing people if big name additions were made.

Bill Self and Andy Reid have been losing out in CoY awards regularly because some mid coach finished "better than predicted" forever.

MTE is just "multi-team event" as in Maui, Battle for Atlantis, etc... any of these tourneys where you play 3 games in 3 days in a bracket style, all teams at the same place events. He is just saying that he wants to do what Duke and Kansas did and play in a format like that where you have one game at a neutral site and then maybe a follow up game at home a few days later.

auburn at duke ought to be quite the battle

The Tigers (7-0), now up to No. 2 in the AP poll, head to No. 9 Duke (5-2) for the first time in 43 years, searching not only for their first-ever win against the Blue Devils, but also for another notch on what is already the most impressive resume in college basketball.

(meh on the last statement)

Auburn does have the most impressive list of wins so far on the season, that can't be denied. I am fine with KU being 2nd in the nation on that list. It's early. I suspect KU will end up at #1 on that list if they stay relatively healthy.

Wednesday has a full slate of amazing games:

#1 Kansas at Creighton
#15 Baylor at #25 UConn
#10 Alabama at #20 North Carolina
#5 Marquette at #6 Iowa State
#2 Auburn at #9 Duke

and a few other ranked teams playing as well.
