Haha no....we were just up by a lot so Self expanded the rotation to keep everyone happy.
KU vs. The Paladins Game Thread
Re: KU vs. The Paladins Game Thread
Agreed. HD had 3 buckets in the first 5 minutes and could have scored an endless amount of points if Self kept feeding him but they took the opportunity of a weak opponent to get the rest of the team some reps. It's a shame the shooters sucked at threes but the rest of the game seemed to go fine.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 7:28 amHaha no....we were just up by a lot so Self expanded the rotation to keep everyone happy.

This is something Self hasn't always done in the past. He's vastly expanding the rotation in these easier games. For development and also to keep the high minutes guys (DH KJ and HD) fresh and healthy.twocoach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:09 amAgreed. I think Self has done it in the past...or rather, if he hasn't always done it in the past, it was cuz our starting 5 wasn't good enough to get and keep a lead big enough to get the bench some reps.

Hunter still played normal reps, except for mop up time. I think the offense was just flowing and other guys were finding themselves open, instead or having to force it into hunter
KJ had 22. That doesn't happen often. The dude was like 10-12 or something, and it was like all dunks and layups. KJ isn't the type to force his own shot, he just hoops, unselfish ball and tries to finish plays when he ends up open

Re: KU vs. The Paladins Game Thread
Playing a lesser opponent may have exaggerated it, but our guys are starting to get used to eachother. We are starting to get a little more flow and balance. We don't have to just pound it on to hunter to bail us out on offense. That'll always still be there, but he attracts enough attention to make things easier for everybody else

HD averages 12 shots a game but only took 8 yesterday. A 33% reduction is not insignificant. They clearly focused on other players because they could.randylahey wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 12:19 pm Hunter still played normal reps, except for mop up time. They just ran offense man. It's not like they intentionally were trying to get KJ all the look the extra looks either. As our players develop more chemistry, we have better flow and don't have to force feed hunter as much to generate offensetwocoach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 1:56 pmHD averages 12 shots a game but only took 8 yesterday.
