1. Have you or do you plan to make an "on-line" purchase today? Cyber Monday being a factor or not.
2. Will you be in sleeping in your home 4 weeks from today or will you be sleeping out of town?
3. Do you give a Christmas/holiday gift to your mail carrier?
4. I don't have a favorite song/movie/food/book/game/travel destination/actor/app on my phone/artist/band-musician/restaurant/dog breed/etc., etc., etc.
I give office tours (we have 5 floors in a building in Chicago) to our new hires and when I get to an office of guy named Brian I tell everyone he is my 2nd favorite employee.
A few new hires have asked me who is my favorite and I tell them I actually don't have one.
A couple of weeks ago I was walking with my cousin's wife (it is his company - he's the CEO) in the office and we walked by Brian's office and I said to her that Brian is my 2nd favorite employee. She asked me who is my first. I hesitated. I then said, it has to be your husband. Right? Well, I guess he really is my favorite if I have to pick one.
All that being said, if you had to pick a favorite, what is the first name of your favorite current (or former) co-worker?
5. You must choose THREE. Which THREE do you choose?
a. KU Football hires Gus Bradley to be Co-Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator in 2025
b. You are gifted a hat of your favorite sports team in 2025
c. Barron Trump impregnates a college classmate in 2025 and it gets leaked that she got an abortion
d. Melania Trump cheats on Donald with Elon Musk in 2025
e. Your income tax/es decrease .5% (half of 1%) in 2025
f. You meet and speak with your favorite athlete or actor/actress in 2025
g. You get a new dog or cat in 2025
h. You find (and keep) a $20 bill in 2025
i. You learn how to play a musical instrument in 2025
j. Your favorite local restaurant names a dish/sandwich/meal after you in 2025

1. I wouldn't make a purchase because it's cyber Monday, but I need a new cordless hand drill, so I might.
2. OOT
3. It has never occurred to me to "tip" my mail person, just like it had never occurred to me to "tip" my garbage men, or the 6 or 7 "security" people who man the gate at the entrance to my neighborhood, until this year when I started receiving multiple emails about it. But now, apparently, all those things are expected, and that's the rub.
It's "expected"? I didn't "expect" a tip when I put customer's groceries in their cars, or when I delivered Rx's to people's houses in high school, or when I painted their house, read their electric meter, or checked their prostate. "Expected"?
It's not that I'm cheap, I'm thrifty, dammit.
I worked in two restaurants as a bus boy, ($1.00/hour, cash), by the time I was 14 ($1.25/hr, check, welcome to paying taxes), and having seen a service business from that side, I always overtip waiters and waitresses, et al. (As I've said before, I'd have to see a waiter spit in my food before I wouldn't tip them 20%.) I picked up humus and ezme at a Turkish restaurant to go yesterday, for $23.66. I tipped them $10.34 to make it a round #. I now go there all the time, but from the second time I called an order in, they always call me by my name when I enter...smart! I tip the person at the window at Taco Bell $10. You should see their faces. Why? Because they don't "expect" it.
I'm not for a second suggesting anyone else should or shouldn't do the same, but now, with everyone "expecting" a tip, it changes the very nature of the thing, which unfortunately, kinda disincentivizes me. Not that I'll stop, but it certainly doesn't feel the same. "Expected"?
dammit

1. If making a car reservation is a purchase - yes.
2. Planning on being OOT
3. Yes. The joke is on me. There may be someone filling in the week I do it and they get the cash while the person who delivers my mail 51 other weeks of the year doesn't get anything from me.
