KU FB 2025

Post by hartjack8 »

With the loss to Baylor 2024 is over. We move to 2025.

Coaches- All the coaches have a contract for 2025 except BORLAND. KU has option to bring him back but I believe he will we be sacrificed for the results of 2024. Grimes signed a three year guaranteed contract so he will 99.9% be back.

Players- So we have national signing day Dec 4th-6th. This is for HS players which we have 15 commits. Then on Dec 9th the portal opens. We going into the portal like never before. We looking for like 13 to 15 players that could come in and start.

There are three players we are hoping to bring back. On the OL Brown and Foster who could go pro or return. Then there is JD. JD is not going pro but could jump in portal and transfer for his last year.

I for one would like JD back despite his up and down season.
He's better than any QB not named Jason Bean that we've had in the last 15 years.

This.

And likely better than anyone we could get and throw out there next season.

Food for thought:
Isaiah Marshall 2023: Had 3,114 yards and 39 touchdowns passing with 1,507 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns while leading his team to a state title.
Been learning from Daniels this season. If JD jumps ship (transfer portal) Marshall could be a possibility. We've seen Cole Ballard and he has some up side but Marshall may have the "it" factor.

Another big question is the receiving corp. Losing all our experienced guys.

Ouch.
We have a lot more holes on the defense.
We need
1 RB
3 WR
1 DE
1 DT
3 LB
1-2 Corners
1 Safety

Seems kinda dumb given the opportunity available to him but who knows. Curious to see what his future holds, I liked him as a player.

Something happened during the last couple games. He was not hurt and was not playing.

I don't think it's dumb at all. I feel it would be dumb if he didn't enter the portal.
Every player is now basically a free agent. Why not test the market?

Firings are being announced across Division 1, yet not a peep from KUAD. This is disheartening on many levels. Do they/Leipold really think that our current OC and DC are the caliber needed to move in a better direction? I am puzzled.

As hartjack mentioned before, Grimes signed a multiyear deal.
Considering the investment in the stadium and the ramifications of firing ( and paying out ) and hiring ( and paying again essentially ), and that KU's offense generally looked pretty solid in the second half of the season, my guess is no move will be made there.

That is sad news.

KU's Class of 2025 rankings currently sit at 60th in the country and 14th out of 16 Big 12 teams. I assume they aren't done yet. Not exactly encouraging but I guess we'll see if Leipold and staff can coach 'em up.

That ranking is mostly based on the quantity. We only have 15 so schools with more ranked higher. We done with the HS. We have had two Db's announce for portal Purdy and Dilworth. Also Logan Brpwn is going to the NFL which really hurts.
