I may have to get qn Instagram account just for that.
Gutter, the deadhead mailing list has something like this as well.
Thanks for the heads up!
I go through phases. Was enjoying looking at the Instagram account this morning.
Had a guy who I was in a Monday support group with. His name is/was Dan and he was a former Deadhead who used to follow them around - a lot. He lived in California (Bay Area) and told me he often hung out with the guys. I forgot the details of how he went to Alaska but it had something to do with unexpected last minute travel/s. He told me the Alaska shows were some of his favorites.
Thanks for the rec, gutter. I may or may not go, got time to decide.
now that I think about it, also saw Melvin with the Jerry birthday tribute w/a symphony at Red Rocks a couple years back.
but actually, just stopping by to mention Dead & Co announced another Sphere run.
Yep.
Mayer sure is a greedy mother fucker.
I guess as long as Bobby and Mickey are still vertical they will appease him.
After last year's Sphere shows, I figured many if not most people would prefer they did a brief tour this spring / next summer.
Nah, fuck that. Like I said, Mayer sure is a greedy mother fucker, and this is the easiest way to milk the cow/s.
yea I guess John Mayer is a pretty high-profile musician, but yea I guess John Mayer also wouldn't be selling out Sphere residencies without the Dead brand and remaining members who are still sports.
While I'd like to see the Sphere, my issue is I just dunno if I wanna spend the time and effort and money to get to Vegas just to see an act that I legit may not enjoy as much as the average ski town Dead tribute band. Why do they have to play everything so damn slow?!
Or if I DO wanna spend the time and effort and money to go to Vegas to see an act at the Sphere, I'd rather just bite the bullet and pony up for Phish, who is comparatively just so much more still in the prime, assuming they even play the Sphere again yet.
There are several other doods who would have been a better fit, but JM prob had the most overall name recognition.
My issue with him is how many guys grew up on Jerry, were so inspired by him and took so much of their own vision from him musically.
But instead they went and got JM who was literally like, "yea Jerry was never really my thing but I guess I can go figure out some of his shit for the sake of playing lead in a Dead tribute"
