So I swear the NYT headline on the print edition at the store was something like “Meta targeted children”

But apparently the article I’m finding online now is “Meta failed children on safety”

In an era of widespread misinformation, it’s perhaps not surprising that people are now shirking sunscreen. Why not, eh?

Currently on TikTok,  the hashtag #AntiSunscreen has amassed over 5.3 million views.

Over on X (formerly Twitter) influencer Gubba Homestead said in a video that amassed 1.2 million views: “I don’t wear sunscreen, and I never will. We blame the sun for cancer when we should be blaming our diets... Sunscreen and a poor diet will make you sick.”…
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Is it wrong to hope there's something very Darwinian about the susceptibility to misinformation?

OMFG, that's perfect. And, ironically, it was after a conversation with Defixione many years ago that I, once and for all, passed from the car of people who "just don't know", to knowing, I was an atheist.

YEP! I got me a new friend today!

Hi (she used my first name) can you see the friend request I sent you? I accidentally noticed you while watching the news. FB suggested that I add you as a friend and found that we have a lot in common. I think we can become very good friends ~ I wish you a nice day. 🥰🥰

P.S. I am kidding about her being my new friend!!! That being said, I have a friend who is a college graduate that I have told numerous times to stop accepting friend requests from people he has no idea who the fuck they are. He didn't listen to me. Until about a month ago when he told me he "thinks" he got "hacked".

Apple planning thinner iPhone: report

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) plans to introduce a thinner iPhone, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing people familiar with the tech giant’s plans.

The Journal reported that the new lineup will be thinner than the current 8-millimeter models and are planned to be less expensive than Pro models with a more simple camera system to lower costs, the people said.

The people were quoted as saying that Apple is planning two foldable devices, with one intended to be used as a laptop that unfolds to about 19 inches. A smaller model would unfold to a display with a size bigger than the iPhone 16 Pro Max and be a foldable iPhone, the people reportedly added.

Apple has worked on different designs, including having a display on the outside when the device is unfolded, but an inward display is now preferred, people familiar with the devices were quoted as saying.

The company had planned to introduce the bigger device first to evaluate the response from the market, but it now seems a foldable iPhone will be ready first, the report said.

Executives are pushing for a release in 2026, but Apple may need another year to deal with technical issues, the people were quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Apple is planning a follow up to the Vision Pro virtual-reality headset but hasn’t decoded how to proceed, The Journal said.

One idea is to use an iPhone to power the headset, which could lower the device’s cost and its weight, people familiar with the device were quoted as saying. However, they reportedly said, the iPhone’s chip may not have enough processing power to power some of its applications.

so know how on google you can refine a search by "All," "Images," Videos," etc?

You can toggle between those options. But once you click "Shopping," you're stuck in Shopping.

I find it extremely inconvenient, and annoying.

Pro tip: It's all "Shopping".

The US has had a pretty good run of non-state controlled news.

That apparently ends next week.
