As the brightest bulb in the lamp, one might assume someone with your massive intellect would understand the concept of “plausible deniability”. Hell, even an unread emotionally and intellectually stunted moron like trump does. There was no sexual assault, inciting mass violence, or White nationalism. Repeating lies doesn’t make them true.
I have no patience with stupidity, lying to cover up the fact that a POTUS is not cognitively fit to lead, socialist beliefs. failure to put the American people first, and lack of solutions to real problems like the economy and border security.
Not only was Trump found GUILTY of sexual assault, he fucking bragged about doing it on tape. His words.
He fucking encouraged a mob to attack the Capitol. His words.
He has unmistakably sided with White Nationalists on a damn near daily basis.
Your smug insistence that these things never happened are the biggest reason that every single person on the site besides Mich think you are a douche.
And honestly, I am confident that you ENJOY being though of in this way.
He told the people to “make your voices heard peacefully.” On tape. The unedited version that you apparently never listened to. What some people did with that is their responsibility, not his.
He has never supported White nationalists. In fact, he specifically excluded them from his “very fine people” statement. It’s not my fault that you listen to the edited/clipped version and take it as Gospel.
I stopped caring about being liked around here a long time ago. I have plenty of friends and family who love me. I’ll be fine.

Sure - the holder of the office of the President is now, at all times at which the Supreme Court is ideologically or strategically aligned with the holder, empowered to do whatever he feels like doing with all of the investigatory, prosecution and enforcement functions of DOJ, for whatever reason.
As an example.

Re: trump’s promises
and yet…
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: trump’s promises
I don't think I'd say it that way. Or maybe any particular way; the ambiguity is kinda the point here, on Trump's side.JKLivin wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 7:32 amSo, you think they’re buying him off in exchange for being left alone for the next four years?jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 5:39 amSure - the holder of the office of the President is now, at all times at which the Supreme Court is ideologically or strategically aligned with the holder, empowered to do whatever he feels like doing with all of the investigatory, prosecution and enforcement functions of DOJ, for whatever reason.

But yeah, where a President is unburdened of the law (or even the mere threat of investigation), it is not difficult to imagine the enormous power he can wield over individuals and their employers.
And that power is probably maximal before it is even threatened to be used in any particular way.

Re: trump’s promises
I get that. Based on your view of Trump's character, I wouldn't be convinced that the $15 million would be sufficient to keep things from happening indirectly. Personally, I think he has a lot bigger fish to fry now, but who knows? His ego is enormous and delicate.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 7:53 amI don't think I'd say it that way. Re: trump’s promises
"Based on your view" is a very odd frame for a post about your own opinions.
Re: trump’s promises
I think he would leave it alone, but, based on your view of Trump, I'm surprised that you think the payoff would be sufficient.

Re: trump’s promises
Ok.
Not sure I do think the payoff is "sufficient," whatever that means.
If we've learned one thing from Trump, it's that there is no amount of supplication that is enough; there are a number of Trump boosters that he ritualistically humiliates for sport.
