the OAD argument is valid enough.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 1:00 pmI'd like Gradey a lot more if he stayed at KU for more than 7 or 8 months and and wasn't so weird.BiggDick wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 12:50 pmI bet you’d like Gradey a lot more if not for this sock.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 12:47 pm
CB for me, but same line of thought.
Don't care nearly as much about Furphy or Gradey.
I can see why you'd think he's weird, but I try to be glass half filly about it instead and just appreciate that he seems to have a sense of humor.
I mean, you kinda have to have a sense of humor with a name like...uh, Gradey.

No.
I am not saying he should have been banned from CBB, but what he did was more than enough to be dismissed from the basketball team.
What he did went beyond a scuffle. He wasn't defending himself once he picked that chair up.

Re: Jayhawks in the NBA
Standing over him didn't help the situation.
Should the guy have stolen the ball and tried to score? No.
Should SDS have ran it down and blocked it? I am not so sure.
Should SDS have stood over him after the block? No
And then everything after that SDS did was a no.

Re: Jayhawks in the NBA
Been a while since I watched it.
Regardless of how wrong KState was for their role (they were very wrong), SDS was squared up with the guy where he could have thrown (more) punches, but then retreated and ran to grab a chair (like a pussy).
Basketball players have to be some of the worst fighters I've ever seen.

Dismissed from the team after the ksu bench comes INTO THE GAME shoving DeSousa into the stands?DeletedUser wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 2:35 pm

Absolutely he should have.

Meh

He didn't swing the bench. He dropped it.
This was after multiple ksu players were PUNCHING him ( yes then he punched back ).
12 games was plenty.

Self seemed to agree with you, so there's that.
I am a little more harsh than Self has been on behavioral issues during his time at KU. It's just not something I'd tolerate if I were in charge of a blueblood program. Especially after the run up of off court issues we had been experiencing at that time.
Re: Jayhawks in the NBA
What's worse? Getting into a fight after SEVERAL ksu players run off the bench and swarm you or getting caught with a DUI the day after Self instituted a curfew. Or shooting an airsoft gun out the window at random students?
Re: Jayhawks in the NBA
I guess, for me, fights player vs player in the heat of the game are certainly a no-no but it's just something that can happen ( you even watch the the nba bro ? ).
Was that more than your normal fight - for sure.
If the ksu loosers hadn't swarmed like bees off the bench ( illegal ) then the ref calls DeSousa for a technical and there we have it.
They initiated the whole deal.
If he had actually swung that chair down and connected - ok - now that's some significant escalation.

Fair points.
In my opinion, the SDS incident was the most embarrassing for KU because it was ON the court.
The DUI was definitely bad (we are talking about the Brady DUI, correct?). Thankfully nobody was injured.
The airsoft thing wouldn't have been a huge issue 40 years ago before school shootings became commonplace. And again, Thankfully nobody was injured.
We've (unfortunately) had so many off court issues (not saying other schools don't have them too) that I can't keep all the details straight.
Was Giles the one that dragged a girl down a flight of stairs by her hair? I'd rank that close to the top of my "worst" rankings (if true, can't remember exactly).
But, to keep everything in perspective, it's not like we have been involved in murders (Bama, Baylor).

I think Giles dragged a girl out of a room by her hair.
Carlton Bragg was accused of pushing a girl down the stairs and you lost your shit and said he should be immediately kicked off the team and then details came out that she was lying.

I thought Braggs was the rape thing?
A rush to judgment on my part, sure. It's common for me to have strong feelings about raping or beating women. It's just not something I can respect from a man.
Re: Jayhawks in the NBA
Wut?
No.
The police found a bong in his dorm when they were investigating a student, not on the basketball team, for assault.
