I challenged people to think, there were many posters on here far more hateful and divisive than anything i ever said. I dared to challenge the surpressive agenda of the political left, and the posters on here who bought into it. And I ended up being right about a lot, as we've seen in the following years. Because I used common sense instead of being forced what to think.

But even if I was wrong about everything, I never once used racial slurs or whatever the hell that was that Shirley just did

Which do you truly beleive to be worse

I gave you the reason and you proceeded to reinforce my reasoning with that lolzboat attempt to imply you were/are some sort of pioneer/protector to freedom and knowledge.

Some of my favorite foods are Italian.

I had frozen, leftover Pizza Hut pizza tonight, and I love lasagne.

I love manicotti too, but there's no protein and I'm left to wonder,

What surprised you?
In regards to your buying Pizza Hut for your boat show set up crew - and how it pertains to the topic of this thread?
Or am I missing something - as I typically am?

What is classless about this post? The blank could be any racial description, not necessarily anything derogatory. That you thought it was a racial slur says more about you than Shirley. It could just be that Shirley was saying “If only the immigrants still knew their place” - which is essentially what the court ruling implies.

Basically the ruling is “go ahead and discriminate but do it in your inside voice and don’t publicize who specifically you’re discriminating against”. Progress?

You probably think this guy isn't one either, right?

Honestly, I wouldn't shake hands with Donald Trump or JD Vance right now if I was my wife's +1 in a situation like this. Dems in Nebraska do not think much of his wife at all and have been rather vocal about it. It just seems to reflect the current state of politics in this nation today. Feels more like a "I'm not shaking hands with that socialist Dem (who also happens to also be a black woman)" more than "I'm not shaking hands with that black woman".

Changing direction in any direction seems to take some overboard applications to get there. Yes, there is some over the top nonsense in some DEI policies and procedures but it takes that to a degree to push through generations of blatant, open racism. Some of those over-the-top policies like the NFL's interview rules are purely performative and meant more to deter litigation than to actually encourage diversity. But there were only 2 black NFL head coaches when it was instituted and this season there were six.

We are not far removed from what would now be considered completely insane. The county in Southern Illinois where my own mother was born and lived her first 6 or so years was a "whites only" county. Blacks were not allowed to own property there and were strongly advised not to even be seen within the county lines after dark. Their Sunday morning sermons taught that blacks were demon spawn sent by Satan to kill white men and rape white women. A significant percentage of baby boomers grew up when that was not only not insane but perfectly normal.

Certainly there have been benefits from the implementation of these policies.

Speaking from my experience, there were specific incidents where it was detrimental.
And because of that I can guess it has been even more detrimental at other companies/places of work.

People get made aware of more of the bad examples than the good ones so many assume the policies are bad. I get it. It only takes a few bad instances to screw up a generally positive thing. Such is today's world fueled by social media hot takes driven to make people outraged.

I just generally disagree with the practice of favoring a hire because of their race, sex, identity etc.

This of course goes for those who are quietly not hiring a minority simply because of that ( fuck those people ).
It also goes for a policy set to force minority hires even if they aren't as qualified.

Just my opinion.

Don't be coy and play ignorant. He would have just said immigrants. There is only one word he would blank out and not have the courage to say, we all know what he did there. Especially in the context of this topic

The aspiration of DEI was to give everyone a chance, but it tended to deny equal rights to poor and lower middle class people not in a chosen demographic. The best DEI program we ever conceived was universal education. It is sad that the current anti-DEI bias comes as education has been gutted. Humanity is all about cheating to get ahead. Altruism be damned.

I think it is fine for some roles and not fine for others. Who the public or a specific subset of the clientele sees performing a job can be important in some roles and be considered part of that job and utterly inconsequential in others. It's not just one or the other for me.
