I certainly do not expect it to happen. Give Moore and Griffen all those minutes and tell them if they take their foot off the gas then Storr is getting them back.TDub wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:38 amunfortunately his history of 7 teams in 7 years suggests that's unlikely. I hope you're right though.

NBA personnel will be telling whoever fields those calls for him soon enough.mjl2 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:19 amHa, this was my exact thought!DeletedUser wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:10 amIs this where Nick Cronin tells Storr he's delusional?

I don't think whoever fields those calls for him will need to worry about any NBA personnel calling anytime soon. I don't think players outside the top 150 draft prospects get phone calls.

This roster isn't exactly buzzing with nba hype
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I think Flory might have earned himself a tad...maybe?
I was debating with my KU roomie friend...he thinks Flory gone. And yea players have left, and been drafted, upon less. But I think the whole "undersized for an NBA 5 but no J for an NBA forward" thing prob means at least one more year in school.

He'd probably make more at KU next year than in the NBA.BiggDick wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 12:17 pm I think Flory might have earned himself a tad...maybe?

I don't see any path to him being in the NBA without some significantly improved shooting ability.

Flory has draftable physical tools. Is he gone? Hope not. I'm hoping this is where we see the benefit of the NIL era. Let's pay him enough to get him to come back and develop one more year. He is raw enough to really benefit from another college season while raking in NIL money

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Outside flory who on this roster has nba talent? Maybe elmarko or passmore after a couple years of significant development? Physically they fit the next level.
Shooting is always valuable. Rylan griffen might have a path, maybe zeke mayo with his shooting and craftiness. I wouldn't expect any of them to get drafted tho, but you never know. Nobody else has nba talent. Storr has some tools but is a mess
(Bryson Tiller could have potential too if we want to count him)

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I think maybe as recently as 10 years ago Flory would be OAD for sure. He's basically Diallo but with more bounce and polish, and even Diallo managed to go 33rd showing even less in college than Flory has so far.
That was 2016, just 9 years ago? Seems like longer, both in terms of sheer time, and in terms of how much the game has evolved since...like for real remember when a super athletic 6'9" dood with wingspan could still get drafted even without a jumper?

The ability to contest shots at the rim AND stay in front of guys on the perimeter is still very valuable. Flory projects as that type of player
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
What would his pro comparison be?
Are there similar doods making a living in the league with that kinda role?

Bidunga and Griffen in my opinion.randylahey wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 12:47 pm Outside flory who on this roster has nba talent? Maybe elmarko or passmore after a couple years of significant development? Physically they fit the next level.

Elmarko is a dime a dozen. Passmore isn't even close yet. Maybe someday several years down the road. But he was ranked 50th in his class. He's got a lot of guys to pass up during his time in college.

Jalen Duren from Detroit comes to mind.
Clint Capella.
There aren't many.

Body wise yes. Skillset not really. Siakam can shoot off the dribble. He scores rebounds and gets assists. Flory hasn't shown anything other than blocking shots and rebounding (and catching lobs).randylahey wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 1:47 pmYoung pascal siakimDeletedUser wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 1:44 pmFlory?

Siakam has been an Allstar iirc. His offense is superior. But similar defensively at least.

Now. YOUNG siakim was like an identical prospect to flory. Long arms, super athletic, quick feet, versatile defender, with a blossoming but limited skillset. Siakim improved at a fast rate, won MIP one year, but entering the league was very rawDeletedUser wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 1:55 pmBody wise yes. Skillset not really. Siakam can shoot off the dribble. His rookie year he averaged 4 pts and 3 rebounds. He was drafted 27th overall. Siakim hadn't shown much skill at that point either. But he had the same body and athleticism as flory, and that's why he got drafted, to develop and grow into his potential
He was also drafted at 22, so older than flory

NIL should allow Flory to be patient.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I think Griffen could have a ten year career as a 3-and-D guy. The D instincts aren't there yet, but the length and lateral movement are.
